We were throwing something with a similar problem a few weeks back and found that it's easier to steady the upper part from the inside of the form than the outside. Just let your finger ride around the inside of the rim. Also at the bottom, "reverse" pull... go down to the foot with the excess clay instead of trying to pull it up into the already unstable stack..

that thing is alive, have studied your vids and can centre very quickly, not sure if im getting my hole centred but have made one good shallow bowl and and a good vase , and lots of bowls to play glazing with . hate turning after , wish i could do this every day .

Me and my dad have made a forge but it needs to be bigger if I want to do what your doing. I know a little bit because in 7th grade I did art and we made pots but without the wheel and that was a fun experience. I also took cultural art and we made African based mask that you can make up of an idea. I just thought it was a eye opening experience because it's just so cool how my ancestors did this to make there own pots. I was just wandering if you could tell me what kind of decent equipment I should get when I'm older. Because I'm going the start saving for that wheel you have.
