Can't wait to play this game. Love the artwork. Interesting fact, Jim Fitzpatrick who worked on this is also the artist that created the famous portrait of Che Guevara.

I appreciate the fact you guys are always willing to be critical of games you like. That art is lost on a lot of people. I'm also always happy to see Elaine in these videos. My wife often decries the lack of female voices in the board game scene.

If it were up to us, Elaine would be in every video! Time & life & stuff.

Bought it based on your description and recommendation. I was pretty confident the kid was going to like it, and he was already very happy by the time the second draft started.

This game is so absolutely fantastic, I'm pretty sure it's my favorite game. I've played it 3 and 4 players and both numbers were great, someone in my group says 2 players is also very good.

Inis is wonderful. Great review! By the second play, most people will have got the feel and be enjoying trying to navigate and shape the constant tension. Discern and adapt to your advantage. It holds up well. Have played more than dozens of times (scores!).

Thank you for the great review. It is the 3rd or 4th review I am watching about the game - as you know there is quite a hype about it and you have definitely the best, concise explanations for the rules and winning conditions. After your final thoughts, I decided not to get it as my game group is difficult to get in sync.

I'm looking forward to the South London sequel of this: "Innit". But seriously I've noticed it's back in stock back in Europe now in Jan 2017 and I am considering it instead of Feast For Odin (as if I can find that one now at £285.48 on amazon.co.uk). I like the wacky land tiling in it and the drafting element also. It's a game maybe best played with Clannad music in the background, theme is very important to my play group.
@NoPunIncluded7 жыл бұрын
Hey! So the theme is... I mean, there's artwork. That's theme, right? And celtic words - LOTS OF THEM! That's the theme. But maybe that's enough - and in that case, this will be a treat.
@SheezyBites5 жыл бұрын
I always find the confusion about the third victory condition weird, perhaps I'm just very good at explaining it. Sadly the game doesn't exactly give them names, which can make it a bit harder to keep things in track, but I've always explained it as the Subjugation Victory Condition and not had confusion from anyone I've taught it to... even my parents who struggled with practically everything else in the game... though perhaps I just play with groups that understand the concept of subjugation better than the average person?

And now for the comment below: I like Inis. For a while I was doubting if I REALLY liked it and in the end I came to the same conclusion as you did: it is a unique game and I really like that. The swinging in playtimes can be a bit annoying, but the gameplay always feels very tense. I look forward to trying it two-player for I have heard good things about that.

Great review, thank you! Inis intrigued me for a while, then, by accident (or the "dethrone" video by the DT guys) I discovered Dune the board game. Wow!! As a Frank Herbert fan and in love with big epic games that no-one wants to play with me - that instantly became my new grail to pursuit. :) Too bad it's nearly as old as me, heh, and out of print probably for ever. Oooo I need that Vasal law to work now...
@muker837 жыл бұрын
Martin Andersson It has been redone as Rex by FFG. From what I've heard Frank Herbert House doesn't sell the licence to anyone nowadays.
@martinandersson21097 жыл бұрын
Thank you Michal! Yeah I saw that. To quote the Bene Gesserit; that is an abomination! :) That doesn't do it for me, sorry. So perhaps my only option is to print and play. But in Vasels law we trust - a really good board game will be reprinted eventually!! We can always send a ghola to have a little chat with House Herbert ;)

Nice review! But just like every other review of Inis I've seen, it hasn't actually helped me make a decision on whether to buy it or not. And it's not the reviews' fault! I *think* I might like it, but I'm slightly afraid of how divisive it turns out to be among my regular gaming groups.

what kind of crazy playtimes are we talking about here? Agriocola? Food Chain Magnate? Mage Knight multi? My friends love to roll around in conflict and convince each other to gang up on the current leader. Terra Mystica is a game we really love despite imabalanced classes or how little real decisions you have in late game. Is it reactionary because of randomness or mainly because the player before you always have the potential to really shake things up?
@NoPunIncluded7 жыл бұрын
They're not really long, just varying. From 20 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Yeah, reactionary because of shake-ups :)

good review guys! I haven't played Inis yet. The artwork puts me off. I must be in the minority, I hear most people say they like the art style. I'll have to try it out though, I've not seen a bad review about it yet.

As cliche as it is, it's very much an acquired taste. And by no means perfect. Just different.

Most of our Cyclades games ended in a constant: He's about to win, everyone don't let him win that God... and this will go on and on until someone got the Pegasi and win. Is this any different?
@NoPunIncluded7 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say. Every game we played felt different. There was certainly one game where players managed to prolong it by "stopping" someone else from winning.
@yogibbear7 жыл бұрын
Because you can get deed tokens (used to reduce win condition requirements when you calculate if you meet them or not) and there's only 3 win conditions I'd say it won't go on and on like Kemet can. But it is still possible to block people from winning "the next round" style tactics. TBH though both games are incredibly different from one another beyond there being dudes on a map. I'd say Inis is a game that will be done in 45-90 mins, whereas Kemet will be done in 90-120 mins.
