Marty makes pretty good LS460 repair videos. He shows you just about every step, I think if I tried to do this same repair I'd have this video on my phone to refer to a little. One of the best things about DIY auto repair, is that you can accomplish several other things while everything is apart. For example, I always put some kind of anti-seize compound on the fasteners while they're removed. I always assume at some point I will have to take it apart again at some point, and even if I never do, the fasteners will not seize or rust. Same thing goes with electrical connections and o-rings, a little bit of silicone grease can make future repair work much easier - Also you can do some cleaning of the engine if you have the time, and desire. At least you can spray some foamy degreaser for times you don't want to be spraying water at the engine. Then just come along later once the engine's back together and rinse off the dried degreaser.

It's giving me anxiety just watching, bro! 😆 Those injectors look pretty suspicious. If it were me, I'd probably bite the bullet and buy a whole new set of OEMs. 🤷♂️

Common sense really. Either get oem or oe.

I have an 2008 LS600h. Had some noticeable random misfiring going on, only while decelerating. Also excessive grey smoke from the exhaust while idling, and poor mileage. Two DIs were tested dripping. Beyond repair, so they were replaced. I am lucky with a good Toyota Lexus specialist in my area. It took them 10 hours. These engines are very complicated. However, it seems to purr as a kitty again! Btw, for some reason all ls600h cars I drove, report some random misfires during decel. In some cars it's noticeable (vibrations), in some cars not. This seems to correspond to the amount of random misfires being reported. Lexus has no bulletin for this, but I just cant imagine this is not a known issue.

Kudos to you mate for taking this on, quite a big job. I really like this 460 especially because it’s AWD which we don’t get on the ones here. Looking forward to the next video.

Love the videos on the LS. I bought my wife a used 2013 this summer with 75k miles and Lexus gave it a clean bill of health after the purchase. But in past week Heater stopped working(easy fix) and now some of the Climate control lighting isn't working. (Why I am looking at LS fixes) Look forward to seeing your project continue.

How much of the repair work are you planning to do yourself? There are workarounds to a lot of expensive repairs. For instance, lets say your car has the air suspension and it broke down. You have the option of having it fixed, which might cost $3000, or you can just delete the feature by replacing the air shocks with conventional kind for $1000 or less.

on my infiniti m56 (100% gdi), I was having some DI issues like a p0300 that I could not find the cause to. I ended up buying new Bosch injectors as a part of the parts cannon firing process. As I was pulling the old injectors out, I found that a couple of them came right out along with the rail. Turns out the seal on the tip was no longer good and was likely allowing air to enter the chamber....hopefully it,s something as easy as a bad seal in your case.

Yea jobs like this seem over whelming before doing it but ends up being not that bad, I had to do knock sensors on my ls430 which they are under the intake manifold similar to this car and I was overwhelmed as I never really dug into a car that far before but after doing it I realized it really wasn’t that bad

Currently in the process of changing a DI Fuel injector that was misfiring it’s a pain in the ass engine. Good news is I found the problem as soon as the air intake came off…A mouse chewed through the DI wire. Wish me luck when it’s buttoned back up

So how did it go, what other things did you find and fix while you in there?
@nkreigline017 ай бұрын
I just wonder if it isnt a wiring issue by the looks of the previous wiring repairs. Are you replacing the injector plug ends while you are in there? It certainly looks like whoever messed with the injectors before had some broken connectors and chose the cheap zip tie fix. I'm tuned in on this one, keep up the good work!
@MartyMotoring7 ай бұрын
Could definitely be the wiring, I'm going to do all new clips to rule that out!
@vanbraxton84224 ай бұрын
Hello, when you remove the bolts you should mark a zip lock bag & put the bolts in the bag different bags for each section of bolts you take out.
@robertmaybeth343415 күн бұрын
Your darn right! Most people seem to be of one mindset on this: "Tag and bag the parts? Oh Pshaw, there's no way I'd EVER forget where this bolt goes!". Then 3 days later - I also take pictures of what i'm working on sometimes and even film it if necessary, when it comes to fixing cars, you cannot really be too thorough in marking where they go!

This video gave me anxiety LOL - I was thinking about getting a 460 but after watching this I don't think that is the car for me. I have a 430 and I can do most repairs but the 460 looks way more complex.

I remember seeing a video of lexus mechanic saying, these direct injection injectors cannot be mixed, they are numbered and have to be placed in there original location. Why didnt you just send out the injectors to be cleaned and tested instead of buying new?
@MartyMotoring7 ай бұрын
Mine were definitely all mixed from the previous repair 🤷♂️ But I’ve read the color is what matters. I will be sending out and having them cleaned and tested instead of buying new

How did you diagnose the bad injector? I got a misfire on Cylinder 2 and changed the plug and coil still misfiring
@robertmaybeth343415 күн бұрын
I think what you usually do, is you swap the coil packs around til there is no change in the idle. That's how you know its the bad one. Then you go cylinder-by-cylinder and swap the coil packs. If that has no result either, then change the spark plug(s) until you know the problem can't be the plugs or coil packs. Once you eliminated those parts as the source of trouble, that only leaves a bad injector as the culprit.
@origamimaster9993 ай бұрын
did you have to buy a specific injector? im seeing that they have a main part number and each has a different part number above
@origamimaster9993 ай бұрын
all of mine have black o-rings so i cant tell which one i should buy, i have 2 bad injectors
@MartyMotoring3 ай бұрын
They all have the same part number so it mostly goes off the black rings (or brown or yellow etc) For some reason mine were mixed, Black driver side and brown passenger side
