Whilst that's not a bad idea, it's far better for newer players to make a name for themselves in online tournaments instead. Then we can see what their gameplay is like so they can be featured here. As we only have limited sets every week, we need to know the match could be good/close.

On that note, what EU tournaments are you guys keeping an eye on? I'd love to make a name for myself and have been doing well in the admittedly little amount of online tournaments I have attended (top 4 most of the time). Looking to level up through high level play in general, casuals in ranked and player matches can only get you so far.

Why is playing the character properly not fun though? Grr has said multiple times that he has loads of fun playing Atom. Why is there this massive misconception that it's not fun to use a character's strengths when appropriate. I guarantee it's less fun struggling in the mid range trying to "get in for setups and combos" against Swamp Thing's ranged normals.

@Terribadguy atom struggles out in the open the key is to be slippery and teleport use trait to get em to the corner and then go to town, but that usually is hard to make happen so you have to slowly chip away whilst avoiding your opponent, anyone who plays atom knows putting them in the grinder in the corner is the money move, you can try to style out in the open but you'll soon get punished, same goes for hat trick lao in mkx.

Michael Thrace yeah it sucks but it was pretty much known as soon as these systems came out which one was gonna be more useful for serious players. Especially for fighters.

This is a slightly different example in that it's a brand new matchup though. Losing to Swamp Thing 3-0 as Atom 2 weeks in wouldn't be too surprising. In this case, Atom would still be banned in the Championship Series until 2 more weeks have passed. Outside of that, knowing the Swamp Thing match with characters that aren't atom is to be expected. In Tournament, the better player generally wins.

PNDK&M i guess i shoulda wrotten this on any number of other FT 10's that prove the point i was trying to make...... I often find my self dow 4-0 5-0 and leave the set winning 15-6. In fact i just about always lose the first 1-4 games but if i happen to be better than that person it always shows through the longer the set goes. In fact once i mkx i was getting bodied 9-0 by a guy that simply had a strong gimmick i couldnt fogure out... but he clearly didnt understand foghting game mechancis.... we played for a while and the final score was 20-11 with me at 20... once i figured out the answrr to his ridiculous games it was easy.... it jist takes time for me personally to figure out what people are doing.... i guess im old..... but the point is in the end of a long set the better player is the better player... not the player that has the best 3 match strategy

PNDK&M both us had very little clue what we were doing in the MU it just so happens Swamp Thing takes advantage of that pretty hard against characters who struggle in footsies range.

upplsuckimcool16 tournaments are usually the same people who have played each other a million times. The winner is usually the better player. Also, noone is going to watch a tournament that takes a week to play out a top 8 set.

Megadat I'm not going to use my trait randomly in the neutral against a character who has a full screen ground pound and projectiles and a teleport so I used it in the corner when I was given the opportunity, which is something I actually did. Vine grab is something I have to mess with but the move is also not nearly as great as people make it out to be.

Trait would have helped you against his projectiles because of the armor it gives vine grab. If you happen to get hit by a ground pound or projectile or teleport as your putting our your trait...so what? Its not like your taking a full combo. Its worth taking the risk to get it out. Plus swamp thing has several strings that are safe when canceled into trait. Vine grab isn't the best thing in the world but you have to use it sometimes. If only to stop your opponent from constantly walking back. And going crazy with the zoning. If you block Atom ground pound or projectile you can check them with a vine grab. It may be a high but its pretty fast and has good range. You have to use it to stop zoners from throwing projectiles for free. I'm not saying you should spam either move but you should defiantly use them more than you did.

Megadat atom's zoning puts him air born (stomp) which makes him immune to grounded vines so me putting trait out randomly in the neutral or me throwing vine grabs out doesn't accomplish much of anything and you'll notice I did to strings into trait on block in the set.

Damn. Actually your right. If he does it fast enough you can't vine grab him. First time I tested I did it too slow.

Megadat that's good info, ill be sure to remember that. My knowledge on the MU was limited at the time. I still disagree with randomly popping trait in the neutral against that many full screen options it does nothing but waste trait, gets me hit, and doesn't get me in.
