I don't comment on anything. Im conserved like that. But here I see a guy teaching us literally how you would teach something to someone with absolute zero background in it. No crappy long openers or agitating background music. No overwhelming starters showoffs. Just showing us what this software can do. Im watching this series and learning a lot about different tools available in the software. In the meanwhile I try to imagine their potential. I know I've got a long way to go but with this series, I am hopeful that I can create something sensible and start putting pennies in my pocket which have been empty for a long time now. I wish I could give back in some way for proving us with in legendary source for free. But as of now please accept my humble appreciation

I gotta say, you are one of the best teachers I've watched so far especially for beginners because everyone else moved too fast or they acted like we knew where to go and how to do it and not explaining anything

I've played with this software at a very basic level a year ago achieving very primitive results. When someone explains the basics like you, before even going under the hood, it really begins to open up possibilities on what can be achieved. Thank you!

I love these videos. Us Mac users definitely miss out on all the keyboard trickery. The same commands don’t work for us. For now, anybody wondering, If you can have your text tool activated, than highlight your word (or half a sentence etc...) and play around with the top right of the screen. Mine has 5 options when the text command is being used (and not the cursor looking tool to select things). But basically there is where you can play with spacing etc... My 5 windows on the almost top right have menus that can drop down to make the spacing bigger or smaller etc...doesn’t seem as simple but with practice we can learn it I am sure...

I'm just getting started with InkScape and just from this one video I'm seeing how powerful it is. I was especially impressed with the text following the curve of the elipse in just a couple of clicks. If it was in this video I missed it, but I'm needing to increase the text border size by a couple of pixels. I'm sure it can do it; I just didn't see it. This video really go me interested in use InkScape more. The quality of the vector graphics is so much better than raster, especially for text, and I need smoother, but sharper lines for book cover designs.

I love the text features. Thanks for the demo. Can you tell me how to align the text on the path? I've tried all kinds of ways, and my text always lines up the same way each time. I want to be able to position the text a certain way on the path, but it seems anchored. Skewing and rotating doesn't help.

Hi, again, I’m now watching lesson ten and it is really cool what you did with that falling image! I was able to do it all but was not able to draw a nice background. I clicked on the square and it looked like there was one there but I couldn’t give it a color. I’m not sure what was preventing it from showing. Have any idea what it could be? I was able to blur the shadow behind my image and add the gradient, etc. Thanks for all these great videos! They are helping me to not feel so technically challenged!

Hi, thank you so much for this. I have learned so much. I am trying to learn this and cricut at the same time. It is fun but I am stumped on a problem. I need to make the words in certain areas thicker so when I cut them on the cricut they are not so thin that I can't weed them (pull off the vinyl) with out loosing the letters. I hope I explained that good enough. I see other videos on it but you explain it by using the tools and I get that better. Could you help me, please and thank you for taking the time to read this. TJFree, I appreciate this video series. I have a question to Text and Fonts. Are the default fonts single line for engraving? I see the hershey option in the render submenu, but I am still having a tough time. which this topic is the very least talked about on the web for making name tags and such. Can you create a video on this? Thanks! and again, everything else is awesome info and you do a great job teaching the content!

Hi TJ, you are an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for taking the time it took to create all your very informative tutorials. I can't believe how much I have learned from you. I am so grateful you are willing to share your knowledge. Is there a way in Inkscape to use the glyphs from the fonts that have them?
@doxiedonna3 жыл бұрын
Hello Telma, I saw your question so I thought I would share a KZfaq link to a video I watched about using glyphs in Inkscape. (This is for a PC; not a Mac) I'm sure you already know that using character map works with fonts that are PUA-encoded. Also, in the video I followed her steps with character map until right after she selected the font in the dropdown box and said "Go down to "Group by"......If you don't see "Group by" check the "Advanced view" box and more items will appear including "Group by" option! Hope this helps! Donna KZfaq video link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i-B8m6pk1t2-YHU.html&app=desktop
