Is this black acrylic paint?

Yes and No. He is using iron oxide as a pigment but until the clay is fired, that color isn't easy to see. So he has added a "paint pigment" as well, so he can see the pattern he is making while manipulating the colored clay. This "organic colorant" will burn off in the 🔥 of the kiln. I didn't hear him say it was acrylic, it was probably a water-based paint since he substituted it for water when mixing the oxide/paint into the clay.

Loving the pottery technique. Not so thrilled with the Health & Safety Wearing a dustmask with a beard is not safe. The air comes in through the beard and no filtering occurs. I notice too you put your mask down with the inside facing out, so now all the dust lands in the mask ready for you to breath in when you put it back on. At least put it in a drawer or cupboard.
