In our Fourth Bali Video we travel to Sanur to learn about Balinese kite culture and its deep ties to tradition & family. We also sample different varieties of iconic local snacks.
We really enjoyed travelling with the Dangin Margi Family & are extremely grateful to them for allowing us to capture their spectacular tradition… Don’t forget to Like & Subscribe as this would help our channel :)

New fans of Martabak Manis here as well! Their flavours are so different than what we’re used to. What are some other things that you’ve been loving here in Bali?!

That's an interesting way to show the kite culture while doing snack testing, keep it up! As a regular traveller to Bali from Malaysia, I would suggest trying some Balinese cuisine (mujair nyat nyat, ayam betutu, sate lilit and sup ikan, babi genyol and lawar) while exploring some villages specialising them. At the same time, you may still want to do some mainstream stuff like hotel / restaurant / area reviews and short getaways from time to time if you find them worth sharing, in order to have wide range of viewers. It's just my 2 cents.

We hope it’s entertaining 😆 Can’t be a Malaysian and not love food. Really great recommendations here! Thank you so much. We recently just tried some of these local dishes because you mentioned them. Will be sharing it on our next video 😃 We hope to dive deeper into the food scene. It would be amazing if we can learn how to cook with the locals!

@@steveandnadia Thanks for replying and trying some of my recommendations. I actually love Balinese architecture and gardening (need an expert to explain the philosophy and history) more than the food but suggested you to do some videos on local food as most english speaking youtubers only show generic Indonesia food like Nasi Goreng and Mee Goreng or at most Babi Guling and miss out an entire cuisine of Bali. I'd recommend Nasi Bali with babi genyol and ayam betutu more than just Babi Guling which can be too porky and dry without gravy / saucy sambal except Warung Babi Guling Pak Dobiel. I think Balinese cuisine is rather healthy in its cooking without too much deep frying and generous use of tumeric (antioxidant) and coconut oil in some of its dishes and salad. Their grilled meat and associated sambal are also more robust than some Javanese versions with just kicap manis. Ikan Bakar, Iga Babi Bakar and Ayam Bakar can be enjoyed without going to the overpriced restaurants if you use google map (e.g. "Babi Guling Bali", 4.5 rating and above) and compared based on reviews and prices ($ means quite expensive than no $ sign). For example, Iga Babi Bakar Permana Kerobokan or Dewi Sri and Ikan Bakar Bumbu Tuban.

Ps. There seem to be a few quirky bookshops in Ubud and even an international book festival. A subject maybe?
