I have an X3 and I love it. Considering the bar and the platform are obviously of higher quality, that you don't have to make do with hinges and stuff(and the noise which you mentioned), and that this is a device to buy once use for life, and that they replace the bands if they break, I can't justify how spending almost 300$ and supposedly saving 200$ is a better idea than paying 500$.(usually 475$ when there are discounts) Sounds to me like you'll pay more in the long run when you try to create your own copycat forgetting their device probably came here after much money spent and many iterations. In any case, thank you for showing that there possibly is another way to have the benefits of the X3 at a lower price point. Cheers
@GamerBody
@GamerBody Жыл бұрын
Possibly, and the X3 is better for travel. I do with the bar was a bit wider with the X3 but it should be similar. The one plus side of the setup I have (outside of price) is the bands do get pre-stretched a bit allowing for a bit more tension even when the band is in the shortest stretched position.

I made one of these for exactly £5. An old metal bar, 2 X eye bolts and 2 X snap hooks. Drill 2 holes from each end, about 1" and insert bolts plus washers each end. Attach snap hooks and there you go. Works absolutely brilliant and seeing the cheapest price I could find in eBay was £35 a bargain. And I've trained with it and it's solid as.

Have been using looping bands and a bamboo rod for the last couple of month. For squats I just take 2 heavy bands and loop them from right trap to left foot and vice versa.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 жыл бұрын
I'd watch out for that as you are putting a lot of pressure on the back of your neck/traps and the sides of your feet pushing them inwards. This is why the platform is required as those high forces could potentially cause injury over time.

Great video. I've read the Undersun bands are molded latex, and have a reduced resistance potential as compared to the layered latex bands such as X3 Bands, Rogue Fitness, Serious Steel, etc. Which makes sense why Undersun doesn't offer a bar/plate with their product. The resistance of even their heaviest band is not high enough to really require a bar/plate.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, if you use it correctly ;) I now use UnderSun with mine and it helps for the setup of exercises where others have been tough to get into. I do want to test others such as Rogue and Serious steel though. For some exercises I do use multiple bands, but nowhere near using all of them yet.

I have been using the innstar bar a couple of months and I agree the bar feels really good and it will take a lot of weight! But I am a bit unsure about the circular things in the end of the bar, where you attach the triangular links. They don’t move easily on my bar and they might not hold for the same weight as the bar, what is your view ? I am therefore only using loop bands attached around the bar itself and it works fine, but with the limitation that I cant have the loop band going parallell with the bar, like you do in some exercises. To attach the loop band to the bar I have stolen 2 hairties (if that is the right word- but I hope you can guess what I mean) from my girlfriend
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 жыл бұрын
Since those loops are part of the bar I'd expect any testing to include them as well in that 800lbs. With the additional links I have it should also allow more resistance as some of the force is taken off those loops and spread out into the link. You should be good to go. I'm going to continue testing but so far mines worked well and so issues with them rotating for me.

Great job on this video. I've had my X3 Bar for 3 years and love it. I used to belong to Gold's Gym, so the $500+ dollar price tag of the X3 Bar was no big deal to me. The quality of the bar and the layered latex bands is phenomenal. And I really like the footplate as well. If you check out my profile pic, that is a result of Dr. Jaquish's X3 Bar and diet advice. I went carnivore on his advice and lost 63 pounds in about 6 months. At 68 years old, I had blood & urine tests along with an EKG for a new life insurance policy. I am rated Preferred Plus by Lafayette Life Insurance company due to the excellent results. That's not common for someone my age. I'm now 69 years old and I take zero medications, and I'm healthier and in better shape than I've ever been. I used to be a carb-aholic, and they were difficult for me to give up, but, like cigarettes, which I gave up in 1984, over time I got over carbs.

Congrats on the great bloodwork results! There are some things I don't agree with Dr. Jaquish on (carnivore diet being one of them) but most of his stuff is pretty good. @@GamerBody I researched carnivore a lot after hearing Dr. Jaquish talk about it, and I discovered so many who are thriving, some for 20 years, that I went for it and am glad I did. Plus we purchase a half beef at a time for $4.68 per pound, roasts, steaks, ribs, and ground. So we have saved a lot of money not buying fruit or vegetables or carbs. In this day and age, that means more than ever to our budget. I will, of course, continue to check on my health, but so far so good after a little over 3 years.

Regarding a foot plate, then "floyd reeds plates" are the best quality, you can search on him on facebook and message him directly. If you want something a bit cheaper then wittersmanufacturing.com/ also makes a great plate. Even more cheap is to buy a 1 inch cutting board and then screw furniture feets on it. seems like an interesting gadget, though i question whether a 50 dollar product can really hold 800 pounds. professional barbells that can handle 800 pounds are often several hundreds of dollars. if that claim is true, it'd be worth the money, but it'd be good to have some independent verification that it can actually hold that amount. the company does seem to be chinese and often exaggerated claims are common in products sold from chinese companies. it seems like the weak link would be those little rings on the sides. imagine hanging like a small car from it, does it seem like it'd hold up a small car without those little rings bending? seems iffy. or maybe the 800 claim is just for the bar itself, not those rings on the sides.
@GamerBody
@GamerBody 3 жыл бұрын
The 800 is just the bar. The small end rings I agree seem to be the weakest spot so if it snaps, I'll let you all know. The triangle attachments should help a little with the tension though.
@rinkuhero
@rinkuhero 3 жыл бұрын
@@GamerBody i wonder if you could just put the loop bands around the bar itself rather than through those rings. if there's enough tension it'd be unlikely to slip off. a lot of people use the loop bands with barbells that have weight on it, and the weights at the edges of the bar prevent the band from sliding off. so maybe it might just be better to get a traditional barbell, and some 10 pound weights to put on each end or something, and then loop the loop style bands around the barbell. that'd be more expensive than this, but possibly withstand more force.

also, regarding overhead pressing and shoulder issues, the issue is not dumbbells vs bands, it's that you are doing them wrong, your form is incorrect. your elbows should not be flared out so much. they should be about no more than 45 degrees diagonal in front of you, not flared to the sides. do the overhead press, with either dumbells or bands, with your elbows in front of you at a 45 degree angle, and you won't damage your shoulders.

My elbows in this are actually out in front of me at about 60 degrees or so. While not perfect, it is different so I am working on bringing them in a bit more but going from small resistance to a lot with a bar is something I have not done in a while. It will get better :)

In addition, if you don't do the shrug at the end of the movement, the shoulder may be get impinged.

@@TheDarkNihil yeah that's a good tip too. it's best to be listening to the shoulders to see if you hear or feel any noises, like crackling, if so then your range of motion is incorrect. it's one of the easiest exercises to get form wrong in. i've heard physical therapists (like the 'bob and brad' channel) don't recommend doing them at all and say you can get optimal shoulder development just from an incline press. i still do them, but i'm very careful to have about a 45 degree angle to avoid injury. i've never had an injury so far but i'm 42 and the chance of shoulder problems goes up with age.

@@rinkuhero Most people get overhead press wrong because they don't finish the concentric portion of the lift (i.e. full triceps extension and the shrug) or/and not a proper grip width. When you don't shrug on an Overhead Press, your arm bone and your AC joint will pinched the rotator cuff. cdn.stronglifts.com/wp-content/uploads/overhead-press-acromion.jpg If mobility is an issue with Overhead press, Incline Bench press is a good alternative. However, the rear delts don't get worked as they would in an Overhead Press. It's matter of proper form, good warm up protocol and setting up the shoulders. Shrug at the end of overhead movement. Depress traps and squeeze shoulder blades to set up for bench press type movement.

I like the core aspect involved with it, but I agree it can be one of those exercises that can lead to a lot of problems. I've been trying to correct it as well as squats for a long time since I did them horrendously back in the day.

Well, maybe the X3 Is not that far out of line on price.

X3 is $500+ where this setup is less than $300. Either are fine but will depend on how much money you want to spend.

Don't think so, I never saw one smaller than this by INNSTAR. I am looking into the 2-piece bar, but it is the same size when both ends are connected.

Next, you will advance to, the X3 Bar! Better to just buy it in the first place! :)

Nah, avoiding $500. Might test in the future, but don't plan on recommending it to others unless there is something I don't know about it that is far better than my current one. If I can get a solid stand, I don't see why I would pay that price.

I have the same bar dude. I also have the x3 system. Innstar one is better. X3 bar is too short. Also wouldn't recommend the x3 platform. Its made of steel and has sharp edges where the bands go under it leading to the bands degrading from constant use. I have the Undersun bands too. They are very good quality. In terms of circular bands I use Bodylastics. I have actually ordered the Innstar rainbow set today. Hopefully the quality will match their bar. A good site to check out for a platform is wittersmanufacturing.com

Thanks, I'll definitely take a look and see what they have. I did see the X3 bar is a bit short. I've been testing the INNSTAR bar and so far so good. I do want new carabiner attachments but finding good triangle links has been harder than I thought. Looking for speed and to reduce noise.

This bar looks flimsy. I wouldn't feel safe putting serious force on those ends.

Not at all. I put the UnderSun heaviest 2 bands together for chest press and squats and it holds it with ease.
