Thanks for having this video on beach fishing. Normally you folks always lean toward fishing from a boat or kayak. Which is mostly the reason I’ve never joined. Please keep it up. There’s a lot of us that are on the beach. Here around Cocoa there’s only one pier and no jetties!

My wife and I spent two days fishing with Captain B last week and had a fantastic experience! He had us Pompano and Blues the first day and Spanish Mackerel the second. I learned so much from him but gained several more good tips from this video. I can’t wait for Luke to show us how to fish here on the Gulf!

the biggest tip to surf fishing is to kick back and soak it all in. sometimes its nice to just sit back and kick it. obviously keep up with the shrimp. I think the biggest failures ive seen since i started surf fishing is. people dont check their bait nearly enough. people get lazy and tired of reeling their rig in and then they have empty hooks ive seen almost for up to an hour till i catch something then they finally check their rig

Wouldn't bait runner type reels be better than a loose drag on a regular reel? I use my bait runner Penn a lot for setting out a bait while I use lures or another rod but I haven't tried it for that style of surf fishin'.

How to pick which was area, which spot/location in the beach is better for fishing?
@Fishin-Girl
@Fishin-Girl Жыл бұрын
You want to look for structure. Look for where the riptides are (rips, cuts-same thing) and set up on either side of that. The fish typically run either in the trough, on the sandbar or just past the sandbar. You can see where the sandbars are by where the waves start curling over, the when they hold their shape is deeper water. Find where the water holds its shape between the sandbars; that’s where a cut or rip is. If the water is calm you can look at the shell line and see where the shells are pushed up higher to locate the cut. Or look for lines of foamy water coming all the way in to the shore. There are lots of ways to determine the underwater structure if you know what to look for. Like Captain B said, those fish like to run on top of the sandbar sometimes. Stagger your lines to different depths until you find where the fish are. Hope that helps!

How do you find a beach not completely overrun with swimmers? I get nasty looks or complaints about 20% of the time I go surf fishing. I try to be conscientious of others, but man, I can’t seem to find deserted beaches (or one with ample space for everyone) like you appear to be at.

I try to get out there early before the swimmers and surfers are around. If you have a cart with balloon tires it will make it easier for you to get away from the more populated areas. But in the summer, hitting the beach early will keep you away from people and you’ll also get the bonus of getting on that early sunrise bite! (It’s a real thing!)
