Went to this Florida beach to surf fish for Pompano when we were surprised by a large school of fish. Luckily we had lures setup to throw from the beach! Always a blast to use lures for saltwater fish when out surf fishing.
Lure: ESLure 1.5oz Silver color
Bait: Fishbites, fresh dead frozen Shrimp, live Sandfleas
Leader: 20 and 40lb. Berkley Big Game Mono
Main Line: 20lb Sufix 832 Braid
Hook: Owner Mutu Light #1
Rod: Over The Bar 10' and 12', Beach Runner 9', Ninja Dagger 8'6 and 12'
Reel: 4000-5000 Size Penn Battle 2 and Battle 3 DX Reels
Accessories: Fish n Mate Beach Cart

Appreciate it! Love those super clear days. Even if the fishing is bad it makes for a perfect day. I'll be out chasing those Jacks again really soon on those clear days.

Glad you released that Jack as quickly as possibly, most other KZfaqrs here would've spent 8 minutes looking for a ruler to measure the fish and the fish is pretty much good as dead. That fish should live another day. @@JustinReedFishing

I’d say it was worth the wait to get that nice red. If you were in a catfish tourney you would have dominated. I love Opal on sound side that time of day. Question were you using baitfish on a single hook rig when you caught that red?

Hey Justin, just placed a order with ES lures this morning to get some jigs. I mentioned I watch your videos. Will be at Okaloosa Island in October. Would like to fish Navarre Beach. Are there any public access areas that are numbered where I could get away from the crowd.

Awesome! Excellent lures. If there are fish around they're in trouble. I dont fish over that way but I've heard Beasley park is a good area but you may have to walk away from the crowds. I've heard good things about Henderson as well towards Destin. There is Princess beach but you'll need to get the Eglin Range Pass to fish there. Princess will be empty for the most part. Hope you have a good trip and catch some awesome fish!

My bad just saw you said Navarre Beach. October is a pretty chill time at the beach so there won't be a lot of people. You can hit Marine Park or any of the Public Accesses on your way to Pensacola. You can get away from crowds by walking away from the parking lots.

What size leader are you running when throwing spoons?

I use 40lb mono minimum when fishing the Gulf. Berkley Big Game is the brand I use. Toothy critters like Bluefish and Spanish Mackeral can bite through smaller pound test pretty quick. I use 6-8 foot long leader attached directly to my braid with an FG knot. If using a swivel I would use 2-3 feet of leader. Good luck!

What do you really think about the ninja daggers? No offense but I've only ever seen KZfaqrs use them/market them, no one else has ever heard of them or used them...

I honestly think that the Ninja line of rods are excellent. I can cast the 12 footer further than any other rod I've ever owned and it is a nice smooth cast. I have also used the 7' and 9' both of which have the same nice smooth cast that just goes way out there. The 8'6 is perfect for throwing lures in the surf. Overall the rods are well made with quality components and function very well. I've never felt like a fish was going to break a rod or that I didn't have control of the fish. I know a lot of people in the area who own them and I have never heard a single complaint from any of them. If you are in the Navarre area Half Hitch has them in store. Good luck out there!

@@JustinReedFishing I really appreciate the info! We are staying by beach bum outdoors and I know those guys rave about them also. It's just hard to believe anything today with all the sponsors and marketing in the fishing world. I might grab the 8 6 to try

@@saleen12 it is a sad truth that you can't believe everything you see/hear anymore. If I didn't like the rods I would never give them a shout out or recommendation. Beach Bum Outdoors is a nice shop. They should have some in stock if they are not sold out. Hope you have a great trip and get on some fish!
