I had the pleasure of experiencing this in North miami. I was snorkeling around a rock jetty when I heard a hurricane under water for the first and only time. The school of mullet surrounded me as jack fish and snook were chasing them. Then hundreds of the crashed the shore. My buddy was on his hands and knees collecting them like a mad man. We made a lot of money selling them to the fishermen around town ha. Of course we used them as bait fish as well. Caught my first snook with mullet! Now im back in mass....fish are ugly here.

That footage was spectacular!!! Those mullet are really Underrated as tablefare though! KZfaq would LOVE to see you do a Catch n Cook with them! Maybe Smoked Mullet, filleted and Fried or some Fish spread!! I'm sure whatever you decided to make would come out DELICIOUS!!! C'mon Brook lets see a vid on the highly sought after "Baitfish"

Crazy/Beautiful video. I have seen striped bass and bluefish rip into menhaden but they don't clear the water like the mullet. Wow. Thank you for posting this. Chris

Oh wow Brook your blue fish we call Tailor here in Australia and envoy the size you guys catch ours average only to 2 to 5 lb now so you can imagine catching on in the 30 lb As an eating fish they are so good if bleed straight away and keeped in good condition smoke or finite and skind cooked in Panko crums Thanks for another great video Henry

Yes i'am a fisherman here in the pilipines.we also have a diffirent types of how to catch mullet...but saddly mullet here farticularly here in manila bay..were in very low 😢..there are some kind of mullet here are become gone i mean we or no longer see now in our area 😔😔😔

How would they be smoked? I think I seen a catch and cook here where you cooked mullet and thought it was tasty. I'd like to try a bunch sometime, but the mullet run is kinda slow in NW Wisconsin. How big do they get? Congrats on living the dream.

That's insane to watch. Standing in the middle of that must be awesome to experience. Does the Mullet run happen on the gulf side too? I have seen mullet off the pier's in November but not the run like this.

When I was a kid we used to fish the Indian River during the mullet run. It was insane! I've never fished the beach though. Maybe I'll have to head out there tomorrow. Thanks for the great vid! Do you ever eat any of the mullet? I've had it smoked and it's really good.

My guess (and experience) say it's because your bait has a hook in it. It slows them down, makes them look injured. And game fish always go to the easy bait, the one restrained by a hook and line.
