On this kayak catfishing trip, I hit the Tennessee River with Kayak Mike and we got on an insane flathead bite. We ended up catching 7 big flathead catfish on a combination of live and cut bait.

If a couple of friends can’t talk a little smack amongst themselves, then someone is mad about something! Remember a true friend will hand you their umbrella when it’s pouring rain. A BEST friend will run up grab your umbrella and take off running all the while looking back over his shoulder yelling run you soggy sob run! Laughing all the way! Justin you make it look easy when you land big fish. Mike seems to struggle when boating fish with his long rods with long handles and the long net he uses. I’ve never used a net in my yak, but I’m not stable enough to stand. The gloves are a great idea! Keep the videos coming! Catch’em!

Man that's the Fall Time flathead bite. Happens every year here in Kentucky. Love it. Seems like the flatheads aren't so much on hot weather or cold weather but during spring and fall. It's usually on for the flat heads. Especially in Fall time. Also flatheads usually want live baits in the fall. Don't know why they are just usually in full predatory mode.

I catch those flats on jigs with 10lbs trileen xt and a penn conflict 2 on a bass rod. My biggest is 40lbs ain't lost one yet

Question: Were you getting much water over the bow with that chop? I am planning on putting a trolling motor like yours on my PA14 for use on the ocean up here in Connecticut where the chop is similar to what you had in this video. Awesome video. Thanks for all content you put out. I am going to try your methods for striper fishing in the ocean next spring.

Yes, the PA kinda plows through the waves when there is that much chop. I would definitely recommend making sure your front hatch is water tight if you do it. Personally, if I fished in those conditions all the time, I would ditch the bow mount.

Unless it's a channel catfish, in which case it's probably "another dang channel cat". Blue / flathead, I would say, yes, it's a golly whopper. I kind of would like to see him catch a 40-inch channel cat..talk about conflicting emotions.

I have an idea for you, in more clear waters, use a gopro as a weight and point it upward so we can see them engulf the giant baits. Yes you risk losing the camera but it would be worth the shot.
