In this video I show how insane the fecundity (breeding ability) of Pseudotropheus Demasoni is, and the water chemistry I have that may or may not be a factor in it.

Ive had lots of Chiclids over the years. These guys are my all time favorite. I didn't even know my pair were breeding, I was hoping they would, I went through several. Today I noticed they actually did. I'm kinda surprised I was down to just the 2. I've never had fry before. I was shocked, and very excited to say the least. That's how I found your video thank you

I actually have a species specific 55 gallon demasoni setup I only have them for a couple months now. I got them at around 1" to 2" range and I already noticed they breed like crazy and are extremely aggressive. I love them they are awesome, I have a different mbuna tank as well with groups of chailosi, cobalt blue zebra, red zebra, yellow labs, yellow tail acei, and the labs and both zebras breed the most out of all my fish put together and I have a couple of other tanks as well lol gotta love mbuna even though they are a pain in the butt sometimes.

I think it's wonderful your doing so well with this little beauty! I'd like to try my hand at cichlids one day so I'm finding out more about them for somewhere down the road. Years ago I had an Oscar, but I'd like to go to a smaller fish, not so vicious. I like shell dwellers a lot! Lots of activity! These are beautiful! Great video!

I agree with you Catherine about the activity/behavior aspect of keeping fish. The Tropheus and Mbunas are scintillating to watch, and also beautiful. Im thinking about making some major changes to another big tank and heading more in this direction.

Can't tell of what I have is demasoni or similis or what, but it does look like these.. he's in with 2 common goldfish, 2 skirt tetras. He will chase them sometimes but not relentless to kill. Just seems curious.

Love demasoni. This video is 10 years ago. Still have them? Im planning to get frontosa or demasoni 2 inches. If take 4-5 frontosa, it might be too big for 67g when reached adult age. Or if take 10 demasoni would be great. They stay small

Nice and easy to breed. 80% water change shocked me a little bit, I thought it'd be less but whatever, bit of preference I guess. I was looking to start breeding these guys. I keep mbuna but never tried to breed them, I was going to do yellow labs but there's more money to be made with demasonis

Remember he said he's got perfect water for them He could probably change 100% and still be fine! Lol

What would in the opinion of other fish keepers be the best short term roommate for a mildly aggressive male Demasoni? I put him solo in a 10 G to stop him chasing the other fish in the main tank. He had however already gotten my female Demasoni pregnant! (which I was unaware of). I would like to put him back with her but can't risk more babies at this point. I have 11 that are now about 10 days old. Total shock and love them so do want to eventually breed more and so plan to let him return to the main tank. Till then however would like him to have a buddy. Would a male yellow lab work if there are no females present? Currently he has 2 small lemon yellow plecos with him but he does not look at them as companions.

I had a yellow lab a few years ago, I know every fish is different but mine was a absolute punk to all the fish especially the demosoni. Mine might have been some kind of hybrid though, super aggressive and big with a bull like shaped head

80% water change isn't that to much in one go?

my tap water is soft and low ph, how to make it hard to keep this fish?
@AquaticLogic7 жыл бұрын
Those conditions are "less than ideal" for these fish, but you still might have success with them. Ask some local legends in your area if they are having success and what they are doing.

I think I will rename my Demasoni and just call them rabbits. Yeah, I think it was about 2 weeks before my female was holding again. No one talked about that, they would only say how aggressive they are.
@AquaticLogic7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree Mr. Felton, why is nobody talking about their fecundity?

I have 5 Demasoni. Will They breed?
@christianz3445 жыл бұрын
My guess is they did, not rocket science to breed them, just high pH and water changes, did they breed for you?
