What an incredible score!! What started out as a pretty normal day took a hard and fast turn into something unexpected and awesome when we found the dumpster of the year. Dumpster diving can be amazing for scrap metal hauls when you find a score like this one!
Here are the wire cutters I like!: amzn.to/3adv7kz
This is the cheaper version: amzn.to/2wjkMFd
And here are those grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl
(If you make a purchase on amazon through the links above, a small amount of what amazon makes on the sale is shared with me. It's a great way to help support my channel, at no additional cost to you. Even if you buy something other than my tool recommendations!)

Hey thub if you got a chopsaw you can get aluminum and steel cutting blades for it which would make cutting up all that aluminum faster and easier on you. I dont think it was wrong either that dumpster was full of what appeared to be garbage from demolition of an aluminum framed building. So whether the legality of it is questionable the reality of what you're doing by recycling metals that would otherwise get mixed in with garbage in a landfill is in my opinion the right moral and ethical thing to do whether its legal or not!

Excellent haul Thub.. well done to you and the fairies! My advice - sell everything if you have debt hanging over your head! Owing money not only costs you interest wise, but also weighs you down mentally! If you have no debts, then save high value stuff that's easy to store and worth shifting with you when you move house. Sell low value stuff which presents storage problems as you get it (which includes aluminium)! That keeps the cash ticking over and gives you scrapyard content! 😊👍

$250 from one dumpster? That's fantastic! Always eat a good breakfast before going scrapping. You never know what will turn up! Try using a Diablo carbide metal blade in a circular saw to quickly cut oversize metal or to clean up metal. I take my copper in whenever I go to the scrapyard because I have enough stuff around without storing copper as well.

Sweet haul! Hot tip: for long runs of bx cable, crack off 6 inches on the overlap end, put the wires in a vice, pull the casing right off from the other end. I've done 20 foot lengths that way. Some are easy to extract, some are impossible. Lol. If the wire twist alternates, forget it. Just a tip. Thanks for the great content

Stack as much copper as you can afford to, l mostly scrap e-waste when l get larger chunks of copper (crt yokes and degaussing cable mostly as well as transformers) l sell that but l keep small transformers and coils, l usually sell around 40-50 pounds of copper a week and keep around 6-8 pounds, it will only ever go up in value, electric transport and wind turbines will take care of that

First, I want to compliment you. You do it, the "thing" in an educational and self-defecating manner that this environmental professional can respect. As for copper, in my opinion all you have to do is look around. Is construction still ramping up? Surely there are/will be more repurposing of existing real estate as we emerge from the pandemic. There are no voids in nature. How are near-term projections? What level of seriousness do governmental agencies have in regards to the grid in relation to the inevitability of a major restructuring for EVs' charging stations? Hang on to your stack for a month and put your finger into the air.

This just made my Friday night. Friendly advice.....based on the 56 of your videos I have watched so far.... 1. Copper - sell half 2. Get set up with a easily portable tool box that can be moved from vehicle to vehicle to shop. Or get three sets of the same tools. Oh...or a tool belt. 3. Growing up with a deaf father is not fun....get some hearing protection, please. 4. You so need a Leatherman or similar multitool. 5. On long hair - I had it(cursed baldness) and both my sons have long hair - Rock On!!!!! 6. I'm not really familiar on Canadian tax law, But I wonder if you incorporated, could you deduct your vehicles, any tools, milage, house space as work space, and come up with a loss on taxes? 7. Have professional business cards printed to give to people, to let them know - a. why you are skulking in their trash b. as a source so they can call you when they need all their aluminum siding and other goodies hauled away. 8. I wish you lived closer.....I have a large pile of stuff you could have. Keep doing the thing, Thub Groupie Fan Club, Dave

@@thubprint paying attention to supply and demand. scrap will keep going up until the miners' output gets close to matching demand. $8/lb is not ridiculous by 2030. Unless material science develops a magic alloy that works as well. I could have sold my 800# brass hoard for 1.15 just a year ago, but now it is pausing at 2.00. Hey Thub, I did read that copper prices are so good because the quality of the copper now being mined isn’t very good. Apparently the best quality copper is all mined out and recycled copper is actually better quality hence the price being so high. Not sure how true this is but if it is true it only means good things for the price of copper at least staying where it is if not getting higher. I’m sure some of the value is to do with the pandemic as well though. Keep doing thing, leave it better than you forbid it 👍🏻

Your load of 6063 was amazing and finding copper tubing a big plus : but now reality strikes to sell or not ? Your money is only good as long as you can invest it to make more , so you sit on it hoping and praying to gain more , but in a crunch you don't have it liquid and have to sell for a lower price. So you rather invest your cash in something that will generate more or sit on it and wait to see what happens ? Keep up the good work and hoppy boithday to whomever is celebrating today. God bless y'all.

That’s the thing right? I’m in a funny position where I’m cash negative but the negative figure is stable and my commodities are rising. I agree that holding cash is a losing position but getting out of debt ASAP is generally the correct move unless the debt makes you profit. Mine does not, but It’s still a financial weakness that makes a small stash of Cu and low cash flow a bit of a puzzle with the Cu being suddenly so dynamic

Copper is going up but I'm thinking it's a controlled upward hike. It was genuine but now the big bankers have got involved and I also hear they are not investing in new mines. I don't believe that. I think its near its peak. So it's a good time to sell. I sold half of mine so sold 100kg. Pay of you debts if intrest is increasing the sum.

So much happens behind closed doors, all we can do is speculate. I think so long as I have debts increasing with interest you’re totally right, take the money and run 👍

I’m pretty sure you nailed it when you said the fiat is devaluing. Where will it cap? Who knows. But is a fistfull of Canadian Copeks now, is worth more than two in the Bush? The ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda’ mentality could cost a little bit, but if you aren’t in dire need for the money, let it ride and when it starts dropping 7%, time to cash in. Just my thinking, I am not a: financial advisor, professional scrapper, demolition expert, cobra whisperer, lawyer, doctor, or anyone that you should listen to. A scrapper down in Australia melts his copper and hand pours ingots, and sells the ingots for more money than scrapping it.

Hey I appreciate your thoughts! So you do make $$ on ingots? Do you sell them on eBay, or locally?

@@thubprint the KZfaqr is E Waste Ben, here is the video that made me think of this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h5mEeadll9myeqM.html There is also BigStackD, he does fantastic melt videos. Although he hangs onto his ingots/coins/misc castings, he has a running total of how much he has melted and stacked. He also has some awesome dogs. I am contemplating the idea of melting metals to sell as ingots, my only drawback is I do not own any land in which I can do melts. I think campgrounds around the country frown upon people firing up a furnace to pour molten metal. 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, watch a few melt videos, and see if you want to be a scrapper, or an artist.

I have an 800 lb copper hoard that I started a year ago when it was priced really low. Now, I'm selling a 5 gallon bucket of it each week along with that weeks haul so as to average out the value. I don't want to hoard it anymore as its impossible to predict when it will top out. You might consider averaging it out in some way, in weekly or monthly increments.

That’s kinda where my head’s at. (Nice stash btw 😁) taking a payout when it’s good is a smart move, even if it does go higher

I'm keeping my copper for videos. Videos of smelting projects will be fun to make, and will probably make much more in Ad revenue than selling the copper would... plus, if I'm happy with any of the things I create, I have a few options: Do giveaways, and/or put the creations up for sale. Several of my viewers have already said they want to buy whatever I make.

Copper . I sold my bank of copper last week it’s down 80 cents to 3.00/lb . I would say whatever makes sense to you. I know I will get more and it comes fast . So I figured I would offload almost all of it(100lb) not sure what the price is in your area compared to when this video was posted

Yeah this video is from a little while ago, copper sure got exciting for a bit there! I think I’m going to keep stacking it up for a bit now, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s got higher to go

The copper question seems easy to me, I am writing from the future. Sell it now! Pay your debts! Once your debt is paid, sure save copper as long as you can. sit on gold and silver too. Those are worth the space in the house. I am not so sure copper is good to sit on though. I rather trade the copper in for silver, personally. I'd also trade it in for a kick ass birthday party for my kids too
