For Shogun 2 there’s a mod called “Spirit of the Carlist wars” in which it attempts to Bring the Victorian style of military combat into the fall of the samurai DLC, the modders even made their own map of Iberia!

I hope not, feel like Total War is in this phase of stagnant shitty games like 3K, Troy, and Pharaoh, and never ending Attila mods 🤦‍♂

I will for sure reinstall the game for that one - also buying any DLC I dont have if necessery

Do WRE. Its brutal, but so much fun. Once you master a WRE playthrough though the rest of TW will feel like a sandbox vs a simulation.

If you want to play viking age mod go for anno domini more up-to-date than age of vikings mod I made a unit submod for it as well

@@Tinylittledansonman How is it brutal? It is one of the easiest campaigns ever when you just pull your troops back in to Italy, abandon most settlements and do a reconquest

I tried to enjoy it many many times but it has just a poor performance even with my new rig it is not enjoyable when huge armies clash :(

This is honestly one of my only gripes of these historical modes (as much as I love the idea of seasons) it takes forever to do something

They released new DLC for Rome 2 after Attila was released! But yeah, they don't have a dedicated team for Attila. They seem to be splitting up the different TW's between teams. CA Sofia is making the Saga games and made the R2 DLC, which seemed to be their training, the main CA team seems to focus on Warhammer and there was a 3K team. Though with 3K 2 reportedly cancelled it's unclear what happening with them.

Don't you *dare* say "half of us". don't you dare trying to reject this on the community. people crying about attila's difficulty were a minority, and most complaint are legitimate ones like the immense lack of content and copy pasted DLCs. thank god for modders i must say. And the game felt like it could have been a DLC to rome II. Which was CA's goal, like proven in the CA leaked documents, they did low effort copy pastes with attila and then thrones of britannia. it was their literal business plan. but somehow it's muh community's fault ? explain exactly how it led to CA producing crap. go on. corpo shills will always fascinate me...

This has been my main hangup for years on attila. What do you have to change?

@DarkWolf447 In your %appdata% folder, there is a subfolder called scripts. In that folder you got a txt file called "preferences" open it and search by pressing CTRL+f Search for "number_of_cores" and change it from 0 to the amount of cores your CPU has. Stopped all the microlag and hangups.

​@@SFGreggs go to this folder %appdata%\The Creative Assembly\Attila\scripts\ , here edit the preferences.script.txt file, I don't exactly remember but i think it's the line with no_of_threads 0, change 0 to 8 or your cpu's thread number.

I mentioned it though! That it was only about chariots :( and that it was a big deal why warfare isn’t as fun in pharaoh :(

Which historical title in your opinion is the most playable today?

Other than optimization issues and bugs, Attila does have gameplay that can be kind of rough imo. The worst part were the unfair cheats the AI gets, it seems to be the worst in Attila. That said, once you get past that you can see a game with lots of depth and replayability, there is so much you can do in terms of religion, different ways to play the campaign etc.. The Fall of the Roman Empire games, namely Attila/Barbarian Invasions, I think have the most unique gameplay loops that can be fun or very unfun depending on your tastes. Most Total War games, you start out as a small faction with a few settlements and one army. Slowly you conquer your neighbors and build up until you get the late game where hopefully the AI has done the same and puts up a challenge. Name any other Total War game and this is what happens, it's a great way to start slow then build up, getting used to the mechanics and politics. In Attila though, very few factions play like that, I think only the DLC ones like Himyar or Axum do. Either you play a large crumbling empire like the WRE or ERE, of you play a nomadic faction, and these have very different gameplay loops. With the Roman Empire factions you're going backwards, trying to play defensively to clamp down on all of your internal problems and hold off invaders, then counter attack once you've got your footing. As a nomad, this is the most open ended, as you can go anywhere, adopt any religion etc.. These have the most dynamic campaigns and make for fun stories. Moreover, they're not so easy as it would seem. Sure, you can settle down, but then you have to deal with other invading Barbarians, as well as a potential Roman Counter attack. I've had one campaign where I had to constantly get up and move from a location that I couldn't defend until I finally settled down. All in all, I can totally see why people might not like it, it's not a very forgiving game, but I think it has some of the most depth of any of the TW's.
