Today Architectural Digest brings you to Sloane House, the London home of Formula One-heiress Petra Ecclestone, her fiancé Sam Palmer and four frolicking children. During the COVID pandemic lock-down, the family used the estate as a city-center retreat. And while they aren't necessarily ready to part ways with the property, Ecclestone will consider purchase offers in excess of 175 million pounds. Dating back to the late 18th century, the Georgian-styled Sloane House features 14 bedrooms an indoor swimming pool and the largest garden in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

I can’t wrap my mind around the self-infatuation and grandiosity of some people we see on this channel. @@craigchisholm924 especially people who have too much money but no taste tend to buy the most expensive stuff out there regardless if they need it or if there is another cheper option. Horrible interior design. If I were a Formula 1 heiress and owned that house I would pay respect to the time period it was built and follow a more traditional design pattern. This screams new money and is very gaudy. Surprisingly, many of London home interiors are turned into modern mausoleums, I think because the exteriors are very classic and people feel that traditional interiors are stuffy especially being in London and surrounded by classicism everywhere you turn. Also, many of London’s luxury homes are also ‘iceberg’ homes because of the large basements that are dug out to fit swimming pools, gyms, car parks, movie theatres and whatever else you can imagine. IMO, her sister, Tamara’s home is also modern but done up in a more refined and better taste. It’s sleek but stylish - this home isn’t very nice despite its size, exterior, garden and prime location.

The house is gauche but it’s the boyfriend for me, behaving like he’s the rich one despite having to create a purpose for himself after bagging a billionaire 🤣 But RE the house, that kitchen is tiny for a house that large, I seriously hope there’s a second kitchen somewhere or it could be moved somewhere easily with some height. It feels so claustrophobic in its present location. I don’t recall seeing any lounges, but surely there must be at least 3 that one could become a kitchen. Bedrooms? WTF? Like there were all so small and had no ceiling height. That dining room was so dark and gaudy, as were all the various lighting fixtures and chandeliers. The leisure level seemed to be the best part of the whole house, like at least there was lightness to it and it seemed the least claustrophobic of all the floors. It seems like a very poor investment, obviously she didn’t pay £170m for it but such an odd renovation. It would’ve been better with a more classic vibe for walls and ceilings and then contrasted with modern art and furniture - the interior has lost any sense of historic quality which is a shame because they obviously had the budget to make something really special had they retained what I imagine were the original mouldings and covings etc. There are so many houses in London that achieve so much more despite being a bit smaller or having less garden, this is soulless, lacks any sense of personal style and just downright tacky.
