Unless he keeps making those same mistakes. There are people in these facilities who have no business in society. And once one of them hurts someone you love, your view WILL INDEED CHANGE! This is coming from somebody who has been there.

Victimless crimes shouldn’t be prisonable offenses

Substance abuse programs, criminal thinking (how not to) classes. Education. Vocations. You’d be surprised how decent cell living can be lol. Thing people don’t always realize about prison is unless on lockdown or modified program, you are normally able to come and go throughout the day save for head count times, and of course breakfast and dinner. Depends on what security level you are on. Most inmates have jobs assigned to them too, and if not a job you are probably in education or a treatment class or vocation. They keep you fairly busy, what you do with the rest of the time truly determines how well they will do when released. I’ve seen people get GEDs, college degrees, and earn vocational certificates (forklift, waste water certified etc) inside. Have also seen people continue to use drugs daily and do nothing with their time. They will return more than likely. The one thing that can be said is CA takes the “rehabilitation” part fairly seriously nowadays. Which is a very good thing

Btw most cells have good lighting, some are controllable by inmates and others are not. As long as you are not misbehaving you can get a personal tv for your cell. Hot pot, cd or mp3 player, even offer crappy tablets that cannot go online
