If igbos don’t stand up there will be no village to retire to. So many retired aged Nigerians hiding in Lagos and Abuja or even whatever foreign country they find themselves in, afraid of all the insecurity. Plus still no light, bad roads, poor hospitals, SMH. As Igbos we lack foresight. You want me to retire in the village without access to basic amenities? Lol Unfortunately we only like learning things the hard way instead of being proactive like other races.

The simple truth is the only true home of an Igbo man is his hometown. This is true for other Nigerians too but more so for the Igbo. We have a very weird sense of country in Nigeria where the only parts that we belong to is first and foremost our hometown and secondly our state of origin. Experience has taught the Igbos to, if for nothing else, always have a place to run to when people start yelling at them to “go back to your state”. In Nigeria, just because you are Nigerian doesn’t mean you are from every part of Nigeria (I mean , on paper, you are). Customarily, your nationality is often circumscript to your town or state of origin. At any time, and for one reason or another, you could be invited to leave or evacuate any state that’s not your home state. That’s why the Igbos spare no expense to splurge on their village homes.

In hindsight, it's a great tradition and about to become visionary for ndigbo who built palatial homes in the village: Why is that?! International trade (import/export) has morphed into a Global Village such that anyone with Internet access, cryptocurrency and a 24/7 electricity supply could transact any type of business from any location on the planet. I make bold to predict that by 2025 most villages and towns in Igboland would be equipped for global business such that the Igbo businessman could bring home his enterprise to operate from his new head office.

Is a waste of money or a laudable project ? Or is it a waste of money because it"s built in the owners village and not in town ? - But remember that a man"s village is another man"s town. Lagos may be a town for you, but it"s someones village! Good houses and projects like this is what actually turns our villages to townships - like in overseas where there are no towns or village!

There's nothing wrong with building in the Village, if you have the money and the land then why not. Soon all these so called villages wouldn't be villages anymore, give it the next decade and all those places will be extremely developed. If you have the money, secure a land there now because eventually the lands wouldn't be available any more to buy because they would be sold out. Igbos are thinking of the next 10 to 15yrs to come, don't be upset when in the next 10yrs prices for lands upscale rapidly. The more development in an area, the more prices go up, sell today to buy tomorrow, food for thought.

False. Igbo people are never jealous of their wealthy people. All the wealthy people are still alive, so nobody has tried to eliminate any of them.

It is ok to build house in your village BUT these are running close to billionsN. I hardly hear of Igbos helping their communities even where they derive all these wealth. What you read are REACTIONS. "Go and ask the villagers; we help everybody...It is govt responsibility." But if you do good in a community, it cannot be hidden.

Bullshit!!!! Only applicable to irrational people. Most wealth you see in Europe is generational wealth somehow…. Why haven’t the offsprings walked?? Henry Ford’s family, Rothschild, apple, Toyota, Honda etc.. get brain and understand the difference between working hard and working smart.
