Olivier has been successful in Balmain no only for being a talented designer but also for being an excellent and very active Public relationist!

You can tell from the interviewer's questions that he has a very intimate knowledge of the fashion industry. Thanks for the thoughtful and insightful questions!

What I love about BOF is that they ask relevant and specific questions. It's not generalised and this has a great result. It was so enlightening and inspiring listening to Olivier talk us through the Balmain world. Always nicely done BOF.

Great interview. I loved the conversation about taking risks and also how being inspired by the fashionable women around him is what sustains the relationships, instead of "using" them to advertise creations that were created without them in mind... as other houses do. Olivier is fantastic. I am one of his many instagram followers.

This is a lovely interview. Each person is made up of genes from his biological mom and dad. I’m sure of of them had ties also to the street. He is a pure talent. Enjoy your self Mr Olivier. We’re you doing go-go dancing as ur self or dressed up as a different person.

As always guys at BOF you did great interview. Balmain was relevant again thaks to Christoph Decarnin and his view on the Balmain girl and todays Balmain girl seems to be not so realistic but somehow sucesfull thanks to that celebrity-designer frienship.
@epifanny8 жыл бұрын
+Javier Josef Griesser The Balmain girl today is not realistic??? Was Decarnin's girl real? Being a 'girl' i find the Balmain girl today more real than the one before...

Decarnin's look was so strong, must have been hard for Olivier Rousteing that he always have to justify his work to say that he's not doing what Christophe was doing... Even it sounds in my ear a bit agressive when he explain his difference (he's young, he listen young music, he design for young people... sounds like Christophe is doing old fashion...), I kinda understand. My feelings are very complicated above him but he does have a great talent! I'll always keep watching his work.

0LolaLola I don't know what to reply to you... we must not live in the same world
@y-adouradou4468 жыл бұрын
0LolaLola I'm pretty sure I've seen more than you, not because I'm old but because it's basically my job. Trends are inspired by older trends, it's a mash up between different lines, cuts and era. What he does isn't the same as what have been done, it's a modern version of it, strong and inspired. Sometimes I do think he takes shortcuts, like when he redo the givenchy smoking or the YSL saharienne, but talking generally, he really start to influence the trends now and whatever I like him or not, I respect his work.

+elfen caten their clothes are pretty expensive though and they don't produce that many for each piece. It's seen as a high end limited brand. Known enough that everyone can appreciate/acknowledge it but not to an extent that everyone can go and buy it

CRINGY! Olivier said, "Glamour." You kept saying "street." Definitely felt moments of tear down Olivier on way too many levels. Ironically, Olivier keep coming back to "communicate;" which this good interview could have been a stellar conservation if you listened to him and communicated with him rather get through your list of questions. Maybe it is generational.

The House of Balmain has gone down....KARDASHIAN is the name associated with Balmain. To be quite frank Balmain was a House built of elegance and beauty.Now it is associated with the social media and Kardashians......The designs and clothes are very tacky and the brand is very uncool.
