On behalf of all the software devs in the world, employees of Microsoft, qa professionals and testers, you may be correct in that it was either a hard to fix bug, overlooked bug, or a bug that was kept to make it your favorite hated irritating bug. A lot of executives are still afraid to release today and if you were put into their shoes, would you release it? A lot of users were willing to purchase for its features. You may not have been, but maybe you didn't purchase it. But what I am trying to get is that you can't compare windows with anything else. Just like an iPhone, a lot of people buy it even if it is behind in features. But to realize this is not easy. There's tons of features on the release worth the effort put into it as scheduled. Pulling out due to fear or deviating from purpose cannot be that sophisticated. Because we have to see the value of that. By having a paradigm of never pulling out, you don't dwell on the negatives.
