This was unscripted so theres a rooster load of slight technical errors :P but you get the gist of it right?
also i completely got the case screws and which way they go wrong. i took this apart 2 years ago okay.
Bmw m4 2014 - present?
I thought the G chassis M cars were out by now.

Great overview dude. Thanks for showing the insides of these new batteries. Unfortunately all car manufacturers keep looking for ways to keep juicing owners with useless tech like this. Per BMW, the ONLY advantage of this battery over a conventional ($150 USD) battery, is that it is 20lbs. lighter. I rather loose the weight myself or carry less washer fluid and keep the $1850 in my pocket. Thanks again, best of luck! Now let's see how we can find a hack to replace these on the cheap and fool or reprogram that control module. Stick it to those pesky car-makers!!

⁠@@cokemachine62590for the total lifespan this is actually untrue. F90 M5 and F8X start having battery problems after just 7 years (including my F82). At the same time I experienced plenty of the old generation batteries lasting 10 years and more. Now I m forced to spent 1.000€ for a new one. Great. For my E92 the new battery in 2020 was 140€ in comparison. There is simply no actual advantage for the car owner. Just another way to rip people off and make munich and Japan rich. 🤮

The thing is with with the M3 and M4 that weird connector is the IBS connector. only for the F80-F82 cars not not sure about the M5/6/8 BUT! on the M2 and M2 comp they put that connector on the Negative cable so technically you can use any aftermarket battery. My M4 has recently come up with the replace battery warning. tempted to get a M2 negative cable and try it.

Thanks for the info, can I replace my Master battery with an AGM or traditional lead acid? It should be possible but what about any modules like IBS that may be connected to the battery?

you need the negative cable from regular F30 / F32 with integrated IBS module part number is IBS cable part number: BMW 61219117877

I would like ask, if the battery does not take in charge at all, can it be the fuse or the module needs reset ? or it's dead? Thank you !

There are two redundant safety relays in that battery. Opens when it detects a short ciruit, undervoltage, overcurrent, and high temperature. For example, 16V, or temp over 80C. The relays shut when the battery condition is back in spec, ie put a battery charger on it if the battery voltage was too low.

@@jeromea.4215 Thank you so much for this info. I asked around and nobody know anything about this battery even BMW, all I was told was to get a new one. I will try to charge it with the charger first .

@@MachineDoctorRen no worries. Check with a multimeter first. If it reads 0V one of those relays might be open. One problem you might run into is that most smart car battery chargers look for the battery condition first and might not try to charge it when it sees that condition. Some have a “force charge” setting or use a dumb battery charger to get voltage to the point where the relays shut. Then charge normally.
