Inside Japan Most Advanced Factory Producing Powerful Space Rocket
The mysterious universe always stimulates people to explore through rockets launched into space. Have you ever wondered how to launch a rocket into space? How do engineers ensure that these massive structures can withstand the harsh conditions of outer space? At facilities such as Mitsubishi's Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works and National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Michoud Assembly Facility, the development of advanced launch systems is at the forefront of space exploration. These advanced rockets, including Mitsubishi's H-IIA and H-IIB, as well as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Space Launch System, are meticulously designed to carry payloads and support missions that push the boundaries of human exploration. Before we start, please give us motivation by liking, sharing this video, and subscribing to the channel, Next Max!
At Mitsubishi's Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works, specifically the Oye and Toshima plants, expendable launch systems are developed. The main launch vehicles, the Mitsubishi H-IIA and H-IIB rockets are designed to deploy a variety of payloads, including communication satellites. To endure the harsh conditions of outer space and ensure optimal performance, body sheets are shaped into a unique Isogrid structure. The choice of materials is vital, with sheets made from very thin aluminum and titanium, measuring only 0.7 inches thick. Precision welding is crucial in the assembly of the rockets, requiring highly skilled welders to create strong and airtight seals.
At the Nagoya Guidance and Propulsion System Works site, engines are manufactured through processes like valve assembly. The H-IIA and H-IIB rockets utilize the LE-7A engine, a staged combustion cycle liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen rocket engine. This engine combines hydrogen and oxygen in the combustion chamber, releasing high-pressure gas at supersonic speeds. It features a two-stage burning cycle and an optional nozzle extension for enhanced performance. After integration with its payload, the rocket is enclosed within protective fairings or containers to safeguard it during marine transport.
Transport vessels are chosen based on the rocket's size and weight, ranging from cargo ships and container ships to specially designed vessels. Given its large size, the rocket is moved using a crawler-transporter, a heavy-duty tracked vehicle capable of carrying enormous loads. Detailed route planning is essential to ensure safe navigation of roads and highways. Safety measures are in place to address potential emergencies during transport, such as fuel leaks or technical issues. Upon arrival, the rocket is moved from the arrival area to the launch pad using a mobile launch platform or another specialized transport system. At the launch pad, the rocket is lifted for vertical integration and positioned on the launch platform or service structure using specialized gantry systems.
Our daily lives are enveloped in various processes, from designing and prototyping to building and even deconstructing. Each process is fascinating in its own right. But have you ever wondered what goes on inside a factory or along a production line?
In our videos, you will discover:
