Removing carbon is incredibly costly and inefficient. This is a distraction. We need to NOT emit CO2 in the first place.

It takes the same amount of energy to sequester co2 as we got from feeing it.

It takes considerably less energy to sequester carbon than we get from it... it takes approximately 1,200 kilowatt hours to sequester 1 ton of carbon while it takes about 5,171 kilowatt hours to produce 1 ton of carbon. The main issue is that sequestering carbon is not profitable while creating carbon is... if there was a way to monetize carbon seqestering, we would magically solve global warming.

Why not just plant trees? Scam

Trees are much less efficient and require more space, and cost more to plant than do build a carbon capture facility

Yeah- the machine requires energy to function- how is this for an idea- PLANT TREE'S. You know those things that have been around for a billion years that take CO2 from the atmosphere and produce oxygen.

2/3 of photosynthesis occurs in earth's rain forests. Currently the rain forests are being eliminated at the rate of 10,000 acres per day. At that rate rain forests won't exist in 150 years. Are human lungs going need 2/3 less oxygen by then? Like most you only see what's happening today, so it can't be something that will occur tomorrow. To make it easy. It's not just one thing that's going on today that will eventually make the planet uninhabitable. It's several things at once.

Why not just plant more trees?

Trees are just not efficient as a form of carbon capture, they take too much space for them to make a difference and they emit CO2 during the night. Carbon capture and storage tech is necessary at this point.

This is a legitimately good idea, especially if paired with green energy.

I mean, that is cool, but is it really feasible to build 10 million of these plants across the globe? Sounds to me like the idea needs to improved dramatically before widespread use. I lime the idea though but there has to be a better way.... like maybe planting more trees and stopping large-scale deforestation

Planting trees is much more expensive. This is a nascent industry and will become more efficient and cheaper with time like any other industry

So they are trying to remove Carbon from atmosphere but are wearing plastic hard hats made from oil. Polyester jacket and slacks all made from petroleum products (oil)
