I’m not a Vikings fan at all but it’s so crazy to me how much JJ is getting slandered by all the media and then questioning if he’s good for the pros or not.. last I checked he’s undefeated and beat everyone in the draft to win in the national championship. Caleb Williams didn’t sniff a playoff, drake maye didn’t, Jayden Daniels didn’t either and the rest of them except Michael Penix jr. I’m rooting for JJ cause he came from harbaugh and I love Jim. I won’t be surprised if JJ catches fire this year and makes the Vikings be a dark horse team.

really? they sold the farm to get Turner. It makes no sense for a team in rebuild mode. Kwesi could learn a lot from Brad Holmes
@robe2504
@robe2504 3 күн бұрын
@@markfein462 Did they now? 1. The gave up pick 42, and next years 2nd, 3rd and 4th to get a player that was widely graded as a top 10 pick. How many teams do you think would trade pick 10 for 42, 50, 82 and 114? (1300 vs 1126 in the Jimmy Johnson chart) 2. The rebuild is basically finished. Only about 10 players from the 2021 (i.e. Spielman/Zimmer) 90 man roster are still there. Remember, an inferior version of this roster went 13-4 in 2022. Folks seem to bee underestimating this team solely because Cousins left. Cousins wasn't that good, and Darnold could easily thrive in this offence. 3. Getting Turner now means that he can have his development season in parallel (rather than in sequence) with McCarthy and be a full go in 2025, instead of finding his feet next season.
@vincentthomas1967
@vincentthomas1967 3 күн бұрын
@markfein462 sold the farm?... 😆 🤣... you have no clue... edge rushers are a premium besides the QB position...and I guess now the Wr with the turn of the market... before JJ's contact Bosa and almost any edge rusher gets top dollar... they got a top 10 defensive player at 17(top player on 75% of the NFL boards)... to put things in perspective for you... if Turner came out next yr and balls... he'd easily be a top 5 pick with no offensive run like this yr...and to trade for him would easily cost a team probably 2 1st and a couple of mid round picks to move up... they stole Turner for the simple fact of timing(the run on offensive players)... the move was made cause it wasn't about the pick... it was about the position player... if Turner was gone the move wouldn't have been made... easy decision... potential superstar young player for capital on guys that have a 50% chance on even making the team... 😆 🤣... dude you lost

Yea people need to let him do his thing & not constantly compare him to other QBs in this historically great draft class. I think he’ll bring the Vikings a lot of success. I think he’ll end up being at minimum the 3rd best QB in this class. JJ is better than Maye & Penix.

I love the little nuggets of info you can glean: 1. They were sweating possible trades of other teams to 8 or 9 2. they didn't think as highly of Laitu Latu vs. Dallas Turner 3. Kwesi was going to try and trade back for more picks on Day 3 but it never came to fruition. Maybe because their targeted players kept being available? Seemed like that.
@robe2504
@robe2504 25 күн бұрын
Good call on point 3. Seems that if Khyree hadn't made it to 108 they might have slid back. Kwesi has the whole year to add a couple more picks for 2025. I think a successful season from Darnold might earn all the traded 2025 picks back.

@@robe2504 He's on a 1 year deal. Unfortunately, he won't have trade value unless traded midyear.
@robe2504
@robe2504 25 күн бұрын
@@DTC12 I think that's a failure of imagination. Firstly, the Vikes can extend him any time. Secondly, I believe he can still be franchise tagged, and then traded. Thirdly, he could be traded any time before FA starts next March, to any team that wanted to get ahead of the market.
@DTC12
@DTC12 24 күн бұрын
@@robe2504 I like the creativity. However, the non-exclusive franchise tag would cost around $38.3M if we were unable to trade him, which would hurt our leverage. (In other words, the teams wanting him might believe we want to get him off our books and want to turn the reigns over to his successor.) Maybe, that works out and ends up in some draft compensation. If so, that would be great. Anything is certainly better than nothing. I don't think anyone trades for him before FA since they would assume an expiring contract, and he would have no obligation to sign with that team. Theoretically, it is possible, but it seems unlikely. An extension might be considered if they want to give McCarthy extended time as the #2. I can't see more than 2 years, though.
@robe2504
@robe2504 23 күн бұрын
@@DTC12 The Vikes haven't had a mobile QB with a good arm, who is also a rushing threat for over a decade. I think it is very realistic than Darnold has a breakout season with this scheme and roster, and to me that changes the whole calculus. I didn't know the tag amount was $38m, but Kwesi should be able to extend him for much less than that. Who knows, he might even be worth the $38m by the end of the season. I can just see the possibility where the Vikes have two very promising QBs and some difficult decisions to make at the end of 2024 and maybe well into 2025, but a great problem to have, and potentially a very marketable asset is this QB thirsty league. Skol!

Really? How can you conclude that? They were sweating the JJ trade from pick 8, and had it all planned and it place before then. They were talking about Turner 3 or 4 picks earlier, and Kwesi pulled the trigger when the risk of missing out became too high and met the price he could pay of trading up. KOC as hoping Turner would get to 23, and Kwesi was saying no way, they had to go get him. The Khyree and Rouse picks were very pre-meditated. They called the risk of taking Reichard first and gambling that Jurgens would make it to 230. There as absolutely nothing "on the fly" or last minute about ANY of these picks.
@robe2504

@@IceCubE4425 That was a quote from a pre-draft interview. To be fair he did that exact same thing in the first draft when he picked Akayleb Evans. Some folks criticise his first draft, but he and KOC had barely been in the building and negotiated Kirk and Hunter's extensions by then. Even then the 2022 class is already very league average, and still really tbd, not the disaster that some folks might suggest.

Khyree should at least have a chance against those long guys like Courtland Sutton and Tee Higgins that both stole games off the Vikes last season. They finally have a great mix in that CB room. Murphy/Blackmon should be ideal to cover Amon Ra. Khyree and Dwight also good for Jameson Williams, Christian Watson etc.

Been a Minnesota Vikings fans for over 20 years. We have hired some bad coaches but the organization under the Wilfs have always been a GREAT organization. I hope we win one soon!

In a world surrounded by Lions fans, of course I am one. With that said, I’m close to converting. JJ is that guy and as much as it sucks having him in the NFC North, thank God he won’t be ruined by the Giants…GO BLUE 〽️
