Just watched this film on my 19th birthday, on April 19, and I just have to say that this movie is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. The way that Oliver plays that man, the robber could not be done any better then him, it was perfect and a solid acting done by him. Not only that but a movie can never go wrong if Denzel Washington is in it. Glad that my twin brother bought this movie for us to watch like he always does, and never fails to pick the most amazing movies. Happy Birthday to the both of us man. 19 years old, April 19, a Champagne birthday. 🥳🎉🎊🍾🥂🎂

right ahahaha. just super random. i guess he actually just needed to cough and they kept it in. Never once shows him smoking either so its not a smokers cough for the movie

Spike Lee's best film and one of the best heist flicks of all time. And the theme song, rippped from a Bollywood film, is great. Do yourself a fovour and search for the train dance sequence in the original movie. It is possibly the greatest dance sequence ever put to film.

I just watched this today for the first time since it came out and all I remembered was, okay this dude hides inside the bank. The intro/editing completely went over my head both times. The first time I didn't know he was hiding in the ground and didn't know he was the thief so I had no idea I was supposed to assume he'd been caught the entire time. Then, watching it 14 years later, I already knew all of this so I didn't realize it was supposed to be a huge reveal.. IDK it's brilliant but it didn't work EITHER time for me hahah

Nice one bro. I just watched it for the first time since I was a kid, so I actually understand what's happening now much better lol. Was looking for someone who could tell me more than what I observed myself, this definitely scratched that itch. I noticed the major dolly shot and got the artistic vision behind it, but it's cool to see how it's done. Keep it up yo. Edit: 22 people didn't get the Denzel joke. Quite a few in the comments as well. Hilarious imo

@@kidiloski2826 Even the character in the film said Clive Owen character would smell like crap and in the very end he “accidentally” bumped into Daniel Washington and sipped a diamond ring into his pocket. As smart as Denzel’s character was supposed to be it’s very strange that he didn’t smell out Own.. The building where I live had an electrical fire last November and I and the people in the building didn’t have running water or electricity. I had to take a shower out of a water container in the morning with no heating. I stopped doing that thinking that would just get sick, so I didn’t take a shower for about 3 days. Even after 3 days you smell like crap, after 7 days he would have smelled like a homeless person and nobody noticed anything when he walked out of the bank with a baseball cap and sunglasses. Of course, it’s just a movie.

I figured out the toilet bit... but I also saw them bagging up all the dirt they took out of there... so why didn't they find the bagged up dirt? Only thing I can think is that... like a compost toilet, he'd put some dirt back to cover up his business... but shouldn't there have been a follow up where they discovered the fake wall and the hole in the floor?

Major hole in the plot : it's never explained HOW Russell knows about the bank CEO's Nazi past AND how he knew exactly what was in the guy's safety deposit box. As a result, it's an interesting and good film, but nowhere near being a great film. A better director wouldn't make a film with a plot hole this big, and there are dozens of directors who make better films than Spike Lee.

My guess would be it came from the Orthodox Jew that was in on it. He probably helped fund it too since Dalton was the brains of the operation and going All In. The Jew was upset at the end that Dalton didn't have the ring. And the Jew said he has a nephew or son that will probably give Denzel a good deal on the diamonds so his relative possibly knows a great deal about jewels and maybe the history of Mr. Case and his secret diamonds. I definitely would've been willing to watch another hour's worth of this movie to reveal all of this but whatever.

In the cell, they simply put the wall on a dolly track, not the dolly with the camera, and the actor, and the lighting, and the cameraman, and the sound guy walking beside with the boom microphone. Much simpler putting a brick fabricated wall made of ply on a dolly than to have a performing actor and an entire camera crew with equipment. Lighting is consistent, the actor can focus, Poor choices of analyses, breakdown, and the constant misrepresentation of the word, "jarring" indicates a low level of cinematic knowledge. It pains me how people upload jargon to sound sophisticated, but lack the insight and knowledge of how even professionals utilize the most cost effective way of achieving stunning results through basic, rudimentary means. For credibility, you must know what you're talking about before preaching in a tutorial.

but why the chaiyyan chaiyyan song?! it makes no sense! There was 1 sikh in the entire movie ! (and he definitely wouldn't listen to that) That song really sucks and f'd up the entire vibe. The movie had this pretty cool james bond/Noire vibe going on and then fricked us sideways with that bs! No disrespect to the song or the culture. It was just stylistically a terrible decision.
