My wife grew up in Winnetka and we did the bike trail bike ride on our second date from her hometown to Kenosha and back. I used to bike ride from the Southside of Chicago in the wild 💯 Roseland neighborhood to Hammond IN.

Made up our own! Basically zigzagged on county roads along Route 66 to take a more leisurely pace with less cars.

but why the chaiyyan chaiyyan song?! it makes no sense! There was 1 sikh in the entire movie ! (and he definitely wouldn't listen to that) That song really sucks and f'd up the entire vibe. The movie had this pretty cool james bond/Noire vibe going on and then fricked us sideways with that bs! No disrespect to the song or the culture. It was just stylistically a terrible decision.

Great video! It’s not flashy or anything special but it shows that you did the journey and had fun doing it. If you’re ever riding in the lake county area in the summer and the Milwaukee area any other time, hit me up on Instagram and I’ll be happy to join you! (I just finished my first 100 mile ride this past weekend)

Thanks for the video, currently preparing myself to do the same. haha What kind of tent are using by the way?
@ike-bikes
@ike-bikes Жыл бұрын
Nothing special, just a $100 two-person tent I found online. Brand is YangJin, looks like it's no longer available. But any cheap lightweight tent should do if you've got a sleeping pad and it's not winter. Have fun!

Major hole in the plot : it's never explained HOW Russell knows about the bank CEO's Nazi past AND how he knew exactly what was in the guy's safety deposit box. As a result, it's an interesting and good film, but nowhere near being a great film. A better director wouldn't make a film with a plot hole this big, and there are dozens of directors who make better films than Spike Lee.

My guess would be it came from the Orthodox Jew that was in on it. He probably helped fund it too since Dalton was the brains of the operation and going All In. The Jew was upset at the end that Dalton didn't have the ring. And the Jew said he has a nephew or son that will probably give Denzel a good deal on the diamonds so his relative possibly knows a great deal about jewels and maybe the history of Mr. Case and his secret diamonds. I definitely would've been willing to watch another hour's worth of this movie to reveal all of this but whatever.

Detective Frazier gets sooooooo played by the lead thief, Russell. Russell is playing chess while Frazier is playing a sad game of checkers. Typical dumb cop,

So did the ride take 12 hrs? Also, is the Chicago to Milwaukee mostly all on a bike path?
@ike-bikes
@ike-bikes Жыл бұрын
yes, took us about 12 hours! Yes, it was mostly on various connected bike paths. Chicago lakefront > Sheridan Road > Green Bay Trail > Robert McClory Bike Path > Kenosha Bike Path > Oak Leaf Trail. Some of the Green Bay Trail and most of Robert McClory Bike Path are fine gravel (easy riding, not too rocky)

What did you use to plan your route? Google maps? Also, what percentage of the route was gravel? Thanks.
@ike-bikes
@ike-bikes Жыл бұрын
Yes, Google maps. My route mostly hugged the Chicago lakefront > Sheridan Road > Green Bay Trail > Robert McClory Bike Path. Some of the Green Bay Trail and most of Robert McClory Bike Path are fine gravel (easy riding, not too rocky, see 3:26-3:30 timestamp in video). Probably 40% of the ride, but don't quote me on that.

Spike Lee's best film and one of the best heist flicks of all time. And the theme song, rippped from a Bollywood film, is great. Do yourself a fovour and search for the train dance sequence in the original movie. It is possibly the greatest dance sequence ever put to film.
