Visit Iraq with me! www.dougbarnar...
In this vlog I went to visit the incredible city of Samarra and it's famous minaret. Samarra is currently controlled by an Iraqi militia, so this was an interesting (but fantastic) experience!

Indeed. It's nice that *finally* Americans realize that TALKING to people first, is better than bombing them. I'm not too hopeful about their governement, though. Pretty sure they're going to start a new war, somewhere else in the next decade.

@@bryanhaen6750 The Iraqi people did not need any help, they needed a man like Saddam Hussein. He kept everyone at bay and so many different ethnic groups all lived together under control without conflict or racism. He disposed of people to maintain stability. I think a lot of things went wrong with the war. The American government is controlled by jews and they did not want saddam in power because he was a threat to Israel and during the war Very radical islamists from Jordan, and Iran, and syria etc came to Iraq to fight usa and they made a big problem not only for usa but for iraqis. Now it seems like Iraq is doing well. I hope there is peace and prosperity for your country

In Iraq men usually don't ask women/girls for their age. Traditionally, men ask that if they like a girl and plan to marry them if the age works out, it is less of a thing nowadays but in most places asking a girl for her age is something you have to ask with more context or you could be misunderstood. Still, you are American so they understand but that is why the little girl was being shy, because you asked it so confidently like it was nothing xd

Let me tell you things you may not know about Iraq 🇮🇶 Iraq is the site of the earliest developments of the Neolithic Revolution from around 10,000 BC. It has been identified as having "inspired some of the most important developments in human history, including the invention of the wheel, the planting of the first cereal crops, and the development of cursive script, mathematics, astronomy, and agriculture". It has been known as one of the earliest civilizations to ever exist in the world. Thank you so much Doug that you discover my country to the world 🌎

I joke about going to many places such as Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia but inside I really want to go. I am from Lodi, Ca 30 min from Sacramento I think your friend said she was from Sac town. Anyway I am getting ready as soon as my house sells to move to Thailand but first I will travel for 6 months maybe a year. Maybe if you go back I can join you I am a little nervous as I look military 6-2 tall, shaved head. I am not worried to much but I rely on my faith and God willing he will keep me safe. Definitely would we hard handing my passport over. I honestly think your channel helps to also keep you safe!

Thank you for showing us the minaret. The Merchant of Baghdad was my favorite story as a child so I have always loved Iraq and especially Samarra. The minaret is one of those things I have always hoped to see, this felt like being there. I wish you could have visited Samarra city too. But this was a fantastic peek. 🥰🥰

There are so many points to highlight here as an Iraqi, It's incredible courage of yours to visit Iraq and to seem to enjoy the experience! You made me apprehensive regarding visiting the Manara in Samara as I was planning to visit it next week ! - giving your passport at a checkpoint , not sure I would do that at any price haha .

This is NOT the “highway of death” of the 2003 US invasion. This took place in 1991 during the withdrawal of the Iraqi army from Kuwait en route to Baghdad when the US air strikes hit. The hwy in nearby Samara’a is hundreds of kilometres north of the aforementioned !
