Visit Iraq with me! www.dougbarnar...
In this video we explore Mosul, Iraq - a city that just a few years ago was the capital of the ISIS caliphate. A lot of what I saw in Mosul was heartbreaking, but my biggest takeaway was how the people of Mosul are building back from unimaginable tragedy, stronger than ever.

I’ve enjoyed this Iraq series more than anything else on KZfaq. Doug’s empathy fills the screen, and his connection with Iraqi children -- through the simple exchange of names and smiles -- is really special. The contrast between physical devastation, economic hardship, and bright smiles and openness is truly arresting. This series has completely changed my perception of Iraq: I never expected to see so much joy amid devastation, and never expected an American to receive such a generous welcome. Doug is a fine ambassador, not only for his country but for humanity too.

I have a very special kind of love for the people of Iraq. They are the most respected people I know. As an Egyptian I have met many many Iraq’s who live in Egypt, they are always the first one who wake up with a smile as they have endured so much. I’m happy life is coming back to normal in Iraq as they deserve it

I spent a lot of time all over Iraq while in the military but Mosul always held a special place in my heart. It makes me sad and somewhat angry to see the destruction to this beautiful city. The people there were always kind and generous even in the face of adversity. I hope someday to be able to visit to see old friends I made when I was there.

The US overthrew the old government without a plan to replace it instead backing a brutal Shia Iraqi government in an escalating civil war. ISIS was a reaction to Sunni marginalization over 10 years following the 2003 invasion. Foreign invasions caused all this destruction.

Thank you! This is beautiful comment and fills my soul. I'm glad my brothers that died are appreciated by Iraqi people 🙏 I remember in 2004 zarqawi had lots of Iranians and Jordanians in fallujah and were knew we were in for hell.

Thanks for travelling to these places and sharing facts and bringing awareness! I’ve learnt a lot from your videos. Personally I don’t think I have the emotional capacity to travel to these places and witness the ruins because I know I’ll definitely cry and nobody wants a crybaby as a travel companion. Pretty stoked for your future travels~ Stay safe!

The Mosul movie is a great movie, and it portrays much of the tragedy that was that conflict. It makes me happy that things are coming back to normal, and I hope war never happens again in Iraq or in Europe, or any other country, sadly like it is happening in Ukraine and Russia.
