And in the wake of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death, VICE visits the last abortion clinic in Montgomery, Alabama to understand the new challenges that could be presented if Roe v. Wade is reversed.

As a military veteran with 29 years of service, I now wonder why I bothered with any sacrifice I made for the American people, because when the time comes for the everyday civilian to make a small sacrifice to protect other fellow Americans (i.e., wearing a mask), we can't count on them to do it. America seems to me to be a nation of two-year old children screaming "MIIIIIIIIIIINE!" and that is what is going to be our undoing. It is no longer a common project that we have to work on together, but just a bunch of people trying to use it as a framework for doing whatever they want to do, without care for other citizens. You cannot possibly be a patriot if you are not willing to do your best to try to protect fellow citizens from the pandemic, I say as my cousin is in a hospital bed suffering from it right now.

Don't be too despondent. Most people are decent and want to be good. Peer pressure and conformity are compelling though; and rallies in the US seem to take advantage of that along with targeted political adverts on Facebook, etc.

you sound ignorant. 96% of biologists agree that life begins at conception. science backs up pro life beliefs. also, separation of church and state is not in the constitution. the expression separation of church and state comes from thomas jefferson’s notorious 1802 letter which is about the government infringing on religious liberties. he did not believe that religion shouldn’t influence government issues.

Many people who are against abortion aren't religious. Scientifically life begins at conception. Scientifically if the life that begins at conception is created by 2 humans then that life is human. Scientifically the DNA of that life is different than that of the man and woman that created that life. An embryo, fetus, infant, toddler, child, teen, adult are all different stages of human life. So if you have a human life then it deserves basic human rights, the most basic is the right to life. If you choose to have sex you made a choice concerning your body and reproductive system. If your choice results in pregnancy, that would be a consequence of you choice/ actions.

Maso24k I live in germany, and I’m a gun nut, so to say. I have multiple AR15 in 223, an AR10 in 308, some HKs and Rugers, a Mosberg 590A1, break barrel shotguns, lever actions in all kind of calibers, a luger and a K98 and what not. And i feel save here, knowing my guns are in a safe and locked up, only to be taken out to go to the range or to hunt. I feel save walking trough the city, knowing that gun ownership is a privilege for citizens with a clean record and the knowledge to handle them. I feel save, driving down the road and getting pulled over by the police, knowing they don’t fear me shooting them, having a friendly coversation (and a hint that one of my taillights is out), and going my ways after that. You don’t need as harsh laws as we have them, i understand that guns are a cultural thing in the USA, but maybe a background check which prevents convicted and/or mentally unstable persons from getting a gun, combined with a mandatory gun handling class before getting your first firearm would bring you a long way in reducing the death toll you pay every year...

Yeah man, I was just going to say... Not many comments on it either which is the scary part. It's a very real situation and I remember when I was growing up there were multiple girls in my high-school who had gotten pretty much forced into having kids because of the pressure to NOT have an abortion. And kids are great, and beautiful wonderful things that can really be a great thing... But having a kid too early can ruin someone... And it's even worse when they were forced to make choices by their peers or family. I just wish Womens Rights were taken a little more seriously. And even just basic human rights.

The most ridiculous part of all this was when the guy complained that people like him don’t get fair representation in federal government. In a country that gives massive electoral advantages to people from small rural white states like his. His real problem is that his policies are so unpopular that they can’t win adequate support even with the system heavily tilted in his favor

The question of abortion should come down to personal choices; in the same way, if you want to own a gun, buy one. If don't you don't want to own a gun, then don't buy one. That's the only argument that has ever held weight for me. The last thing we need is the government restricting or making choices for individuals. We should always air towards the side of less government intrusion on our individual lives. While people may disagree with abortions, I think the vast majority of people can find some common ground on agreeing that government is not where we'll find the answer.

It always shocks me when a woman can be so against women’s access to reproductive health. Planned Parenthood helps women have access to birth control and pap smears it’s not only abortions. They diagnose breast cancer, cervical and uterine cancer, they provide Pap smears and biopsies and supply birth control for inner city women. Birth control isn’t always for sex, sometimes it’s to prevent cysts on people’s ovaries. Stop judging women for using there rights.

That journalist has the composure of a saint. After 30 seconds, I would of been like, have any of you bothered to actually look up what planned parenthood does? Or what government money is used for there? They do STD testing and treatment, birth control, well-woman exams, cancer screening and prevention, hormone therapy, infertility services, and general health care. Abortion make up just 3% of the procedures that they do. WTF you crazy people are literally complaining about a clinic offering affordable healthcare to women AND men!

Those stats are skewed. Over 30% of those who go to Planned Parenthood get abortions, and also then receive some other “services” on top of the abortion which is where the 3% stat comes from.

@@manicmartyr69 Directly from Annual Report of PPFA. Every single procedure that is done is recorded and documented. It's a hospital, there are records that need to be kept. They also receive government funds so there is a track record of every dime that is spent along with when and where. Your personal opinion and what you "think" doesn't overrule actual factual information. Abortions only comprise 3% of all of their procedures.

My grandmother was against Planned Parenthood because she heard they “force people” into abortions, but when I got pregnant at 18 and wanted to look into adoption she went with my to PP and not once did they ever mention abortion to me. They only shared info on adoption agencies. From that experience my grandmother changed her perspective on PP. the sad thing is there are so many lies and misleading stories being told and people who are eager to believe them.

They either charge or use their own profits from services performed if someone can't afford but wants to have the procedure done. This is why more and more people are becoming non-religious, but keep it up and keep pushing these people away from your organizations. Maybe at some point, we'll have more people who think critically rather than just following talking points.

As a Coloradan myself, it’s a very diverse but also polarized state. On one street people are putting up BLM signs and on the other people are putting up MAGA signs. Honestly, it’s getting really annoying, I wish people would just stop hating each other. If Boebert wasn’t as inflammatory and retaliatory as she is, then I would respect her opinion (I would still disagree with it though). Colorado is a good state though, we’ve been able to avoid many problems that most other states have had to handle (economic inequality, an aging population, an ineffective and stalled government, etc.). I just hope we’re able to stay on that course, and I also hope other states can see what we’re doing and bring it back to their state. I’m not trying to say Colorado is the best state, but it’s a good place, with good people, no matter their political opinions.

@@manicmartyr69 Most abortions occur in earlier stages of development, so I wouldn’t refer to it as “killing a baby.” It’s incredible to me how Republicans promote “life” and halt as soon as an actual baby is born, which is what motivates most abortions, desperation because the parent believes they aren’t prepared. I can call freedom to carry a willingness to accept the greater loss of American lives for personal assurance, which is actually based on stats but I don’t because it doesn’t move the argument

Planned Parenthood does NOT get monies for abortion services. They get monies because they offer reproductive health services.Monograms, Cervical health, birth control. Look at any Republican politician and they will be long on promises and short on actual policy. They have learned that if you don't have actual policies then it's harder to attack your position and what they do to Democratic opponents with actual policies is that they will dig into the policy and reframe some obscure point into something that will scare conservatives. She is a politician who follows the exact Republican playbook.

The trick I do with them is to listen and to keep asking about specific aspects of their positions and they quickly come to "I am not sure" but it never bothers them when they realize they don't understand what they believe in, they just pivot to another talking point.

It doesn't matter if it's human and it's alive. No one can use another person's body without their consent - even if their life depends on it. If I were dying and needed a lung transplant, the Government can't force you to give me one of your lungs. Even if I will die without it. It's the same thing with a fetus. And it doesn't matter if "she did things that caused it". A woman can say no/stop to sexual intercourse, even if she said yes to it earlier. The second a person says "stop using my body in a way I don't consent to," the person using his/her body loses the right to use his/her body. And it doesn't matter what the reason is. They don't even have to have a reason. They don't have to justify their consent. It's pretty simple. You can't use other people's bodies without their permission. The South has never understood this.

I'm a 24 year old autistic woman with a ton of mental and personality issues. I do not in any way need to have a child. Getting my abortion was the only real, safe, and good option i had. It really shows how women are viewed in this country not only by men but by other women. They may be content in making themselves property with limited rights, but i dont follow in that belief. Abortion is a right that shouldnt be eliminated because of the beliefs of a few people.
