Ed was over on Canvey Island Thursday speaking to constituents in one of the safest Tory seats in the country. He gives the lowdown from there.
Rishi Sunak also admitted that no flights to Rwanda will take off before the election. We break down whether he's spoofing or not.
After Jeremy Corbyn has declared as an independent to run as the Islington North MP, we discuss how Labour will fight the seat on 4 July.

The thing about the Furlough scheme was that it was being called for weeks before it was announced, people were already being let go and made redundant at least 2 weeks before it was announced to be happening, just like late lockdown the Tories waited until the horse had already bolted from the stable.

Big difference between Corbyn and Jamie Driscoll, Jamie Driscoll isn't actually that well known or liked in North East. He only polled closed in a coupe of wards within Newcastle City Council, the rest was Labour by considerable margins. Corbyn does have the profile to run it close or win but like Ava said there is a big difference

Fun fact, I resigned my Conservative Party membership (which I secretly bought as the best chance to vote Boris out) when Boris made the connection between Starmer and Saville in PMQs and the tory MPs (with very few exceptions) backed him. It was then that I realised the party was unsalvageable.

@@jonsmith5058 Well, maybe salvage is too positive a word. I live in a very safe Labour seat, so my vote in a general election is more-or-less irrelevant. The only way I could influence the Tory government was to join the Tory party, and at least then I'd get a say on who the leader was. Unfortunately I resigned before the Truss vs Sunak vote, so I had no say in that. I actually quite like Sunak, we need more nerds in government. Starmer fits that bill quite nicely too though.

It’ll be Blair all over again when we discover the full extent of the evil we supported in this war, assuming we get to see all Israels actions exposed. The Tory membership has been long unsalvagable, evidenced by their continuing love of Truss and Boris. I assume you’re a moderate right winger, so I think Labour under Starmer is your ideal home now. I’m a moderate left winger so dont really have a political home now, I think I’ll vote Green but my vote is even more pointless than yours right now.

Really don't get the focus on Rwanda from the government or why they might position their election strategy around it. It's generally seen as a joke and nothing but a failure, even if a flight with a couple of people on it go is that really going to swing people? It seems like such a small policy that in the main is going to make no positive difference, they might actually get more votes if they admitted it wasn't going to work but they had another idea.

At the start when Ed claims that only two councils are made up of purely non-national parties, this is incorrect. None of the parties in the Uk are nationwide. Labour and Torys are both English nationalist parties. None of the parties run for election in Northern Ireland which is part of that nationwide claim.
