At the end, when Disgust baits Anger into blowing his top so she can melt the window, I felt like that was the moment that Riley was disgusted at how useless her anger was, and she was channeling it to try and be useful, and it allowed her a breakthrough (The window) to let joy and sadness back in so she could feel.

That scene never fails to get me. And the symbolism is so spot on. We create imaginary friends so we can have an ideal companion. Someone who loves what we love, and supports us. Like multiple personalities, that are created to help and protect us, in a way. And, at the end, Bing Bong realized that he was, literally, holding Riley back, and let himself go to save her. Personally, I don't think that Riley will suddenly forget he ever existed, but after that, he will never feel real to her anymore. And, somehow, that feels worse. That scene illustrates the price and bitterness of growing up, and the loss of innocence.

At the beginning of the movie after Riley has a rough day, Joy, who’s up while she’s sleeping, says to her “Tomorrow is going to be a great day, I promise”. Then throughout her journey, Joy has growth and realizes she can’t promise things like that but she’ll try. And that’s exactly what she tells Bing Bong at 37:54 🥰 All you can do is your best
@themask8221
@themask8221 Жыл бұрын
I noticed that Joy was actually ready, although still reluctant, to let the other emotions take over in pressing the console when Riley was lying down on the floor of their new house to go to sleep. But then the mom, Mrs. Andersen, said something about staying positive and happy to help the stressed dad. It seems that this genuine and innocent comment/request from her kinda pushed Riley to further exhibit the unhealthy behaviour the movie showcased, namely, the forcing oneself to stay happy all the time and compartmentalizing sadness. Of course, I definitely do not believe that the mother is a malicious villain here. I believe that comment of hers was coming from a good place. Unfortunately, to Riley's mind, I think what her mom said meant she should completely avoid feeling sad about her unfortunate situation because that can make things harder for everyone, especially for dad. I guess one lesson here is: think before we speak. Sometimes, well-meaning words can surprisingly be harmful to someone, depending on their situation, their personality and other factors.
@josephsoltero7326
@josephsoltero7326 Жыл бұрын
Joy had no problem letting the other emotions drive but only as long as it suited her. Joy still saw herself as the boss and acted like it. Because of this, the mom genuinely thought Riley _was_ actually happy about the move, so she asked Riley to keep it up because she knew the dad wasn't happy at all. I don't blame the mom at all. Sometimes kids really can fool their parents and make them think everything's okay when it's not.

One of my favorites from the past few years. Definitely an emotional roller coaster Never apologize for shedding a few tears. It’s a sign of strength and courage.
@neil2444
@neil2444 Жыл бұрын
You'll notice the emotions in the minds of the parents are working together, not arguing. The emotion driving them all in the mind of the mom is sadness and in the father it is anger, compared to Riley having Joy drive her (despite the disagreements). Subtle thing, I know, but I appreciate all the nuances of the metaphor. Brilliant film.

The dream sequences are actually really cool! Dreams help us to discover what we're having trouble with, as well as processing events and overcoming weaknesses. For example, Riley dreaming of her teeth falling out means that she's dealing with an abrupt loss or important life changes, like suddenly moving; not wearing pants have a variety of meanings, like 1) being exposed and vulnerable, 2) not fitting in, 3) feeling rebellious, 4) being playful, 5) feeling liberated, and 6) insecurity.

I feel like it’s even better because from Riley’s perspective it was really realistic for how dreams be. Dreams are sometimes chaotic and make absolutely no sense whatsoever. I would’ve had so many questions after waking up after a nightmare like that 😂.

You were right when you said early on in the video that sadness is important. Too many men in our society don't let themselves feel their emotions because they are told it makes them feel weak. Instead, it just means we're human. Keep being human dude. This was the first video of yours I watched, but I'll keep watching them now. You gained a subscriber :)

The reason I think BingBong's death was so painful, was because she was losing and lost a piece of her childhood. Sometimes as you mature, you end up losing part of yourself who you knew back then. I sometimes look at myself and ask how was I ever the person in my past

Thanks SO much for including the scene just prior to the most-infamous Bing Bong scene... especially Joy's line of "Do you remember when she used to stick her tongue out when she was coloring?" and the lines immediately following that. I rarely, if ever, see reactors include those lines, but THAT was the first scene that "got me" too, when I watched it for the first time fairly recently. My own reaction was extra-surprising to me, because it is not typical at all for me to cry during movies. As someone in my 30's, I actually could not even remember virtually any other movie (prior to this one) that had triggered tears in me. But THAT scene sure did- it snuck up on me, and hit me like a truck. So... yeah, it's definitely NOT "just you" 🙃 And since feel-good brain endorphins can get released along with tears... this was ALSO the movie that actually got me addicted to tearjerkers believe it or not! On that note: This is easily the most beautiful and sweet reaction I've ever seen, and I follow 12 reactors. I've seen a LOT of "Inside Out" reactions, and yours is by far my favorite.

Zanna, also known as Imaginary Friends, are a type of creature that act as guides and guardian angels to children in need of them. They do so under the guise of being a child's imaginary friend for as long as the child needs them, but once the child no longer needs them, the Zanna leaves and moves on to another child.

Your reaction to Bing Bong fading away is so relatable. That scene and the one at 43:00 in particular both crushed me. This is a beautiful movie and I enjoyed watching this reaction video for it. You should check out Encanto too, it is an awesome and really deep examination of family dynamics and pressures and generational trauma, all tucked inside a peppy tale about a magic family. Encanto and Inside Out are two of my favorite animated movies.

There are a bunch of Pixar and Disney movies that are emotional and profound. My personal favorite is Coco--I was a weepy mess by the end of that one. You should also watch "Up" if you haven't already seen it. It has a sort of mini movie within it that tells an amazing story in just a few minutes. There's a similar scene in Encanto. Both have great music as well that are very much a part of the story.

If you love this you’ll also love UP and never apologise about crying. Let the emotions flow through you. I think the emotions not being able to make her feel anything meant that Riley was having depression. Sadness being able to pull off the light meant Riley was allowing herself to feel emotions and let all frustration out. Also can you react to short video Riley’s First Date?

Imo, I don't think cool kids at 3 o'clock judged Riley for being depressed about her memories, cause they looked at Riley with a kind of sad and sympathetic face. I think it's just what Disgust thought about them, cause everyone gets scared studying in new school the first day, and thinking new friends at school will judge them is usual. Even the other students in her new class, especially the girls have that face.

The reason you are crying is because you have emotions. Let them out. Use all your emotions. Not just the ones you feel men are supposed to use. And maybe somewhere inside you, there is a made-up friend you had that you were afraid to let go of as well. I would say check out "Coco" but not without a box of tissue. That movie has broken the biggest of men down to tears.
