Implanting electrodes in the brain to treat a psychiatric condition is controversial. It's not a treatment that doctors or patients consider lightly.

"I just feel like I don't have that much to loose" Exactly my thoughts, I would rather risk it all than live with this OCD making it hard for me to survive. It has made studies, relationships and to be generally sane so difficult for me :/

It's the fucking worst isn't it mate? I got mine at 20 year old so I had 19 and a bit years of absolute bliss without even realizing it, 24 now and I wouldn't of survived this long without a loving family and girlfriend. Sertraline helped for a while but there's stuff that goes on in my head I couldn't talk about to anyone, let alone them try to understand. You are not alone brother, it's like being locked in a prison in the mind, it feels so much worse because in my youth I was so free, now I am trapped.

I got this surgery done about 4 years ago. It helped a lot. Then I had taken apart in a study where they place leads in a precise spot in the brain where that controls the OCD. It changed my life or should I say “it gave me life.”

@@jaggass I hear ya buddy. This shit sucks. It makes me feel paranoid all the time, and it really interferes with my brain function. I’m discussing with my psychiatrist about possibly having him recommend me for this procedure so I can’t get back to a baseline level of functioning. Hope you get better as well. We all deserve to have a happy, healthy life.

@@jaggass mine are mental compulsions but they result in physical compulsions like going on Reddit and reading mental health stuff. Lately, I’ve been obsessing about going crazy or getting dementia, and it’s been hell. Feel like I’m in a state of constant anxiety, and It’s hard to be present and focus on anything. It’s like my mental obsessions are all that matter. You’re not alone man. I know it’s hell, but we will get through this.

Before doing this Surgery try the following for OCD for at least 2 months: 1. Niacin (Nicotinic Acid/cause flush lasts up to 3 hours max no worries) 1000mg 3x daily (optionally: you can start slowly and gradually up the dose) 2. NAC 600mg 2x daily 3. Vitamin C 500mg 3x daily Note: No side effects from these Vitamins, only Niacin cause a skin flush but that normal due to vasodilator effect.
