At just 21 years old, François-Henry has left his family and friends behind to join the prestigious French military academy of Saint-Cyr. In a few years from now, he will lead an army battalion. In the meantime, François-Henry must learn how to become a good officer, with both combat training and lessons in the classroom. Some 3,000 people take the Saint-Cyr entry exam each year, but only 180 of them manage to bag a place.

What a nice story. What a lovely young man. I have trained cadets in many nations. It is always funny how alike all young men are despite the big differences in culture.

Discipline, work, goals, dedication, fraternity. So different from the "values" of the popular culture. I wonder if the cadet profiled graduated and became an officer?

In a few years leading a infantry battalion? It’s more than a few, it’s takes almost 15 plus years as a commissioned officer to end up as a battalion commander.

its weird to say, I'm dating a french army officer, had no idea until we got serious. i was never the type of girl that love men in uniform. But being with him was a very surprising change of opinion. extremely sweet, but have this cold untold thing about him form into a person i have told him what i strongly disagree, he's a very supportive person regardless of me disagreeing with him. especially me being from an open and free personality compared to his. I'm from LA and he's from France. Two complete different worlds.

You know, I'm actually working on a story involving a French soldier. A cadet in the French Army, though I don't know if he would be starting his military life in the Ecole Militaire in Paris or boot camp. By any chance, would you know, since you're dating a French army member?

When my wife first met me, she did not know I was an Air Force officer. It turns out, that part did not matter as much to her as my character. You'll probably find the same thing. Whether or not your relationship endures will be more about how you are together as opposed to your professions. If you love each other, you'll find a way. It may not be easy (A relationship with a soldier rarely is) but you'll find a way.

@@Endodont mmmmm we are the country who have the most fight in human history. We fought all Europe ... we are the country who win the most battle in human history. The jokes of French surrender comes from the Simpson and all the obese or jalous from French. Are you one of this guy ? Then if you want we can talk about the second worlds war. What about Hitler who say that French soldiers are wolf commanded by dogs. In 6 weeks French lost 86 000 soldiers, to compare Americans lost 56 000 soldiers in Vietnam.( of course alone , English abandon French : that’s why we say that English fought until the last French , USA were coward and URSS betray us). Because in same moment , French win against Italians , win in Norway ... and what about all victories from French free force composed as 2 millions soldiers in 1945. They conquered south of France , Paris , Strasbourg’s , Corsica , North Africa , Monte casino ... and what about resistance. My family were deported for resistance ... and we can continuate long time , the problem is that you don’t read books ...

salut!
