I worked for Samsung between the year 2012-18 and made multiple visits to Samsung Headquarters@Korea. The whole campus is truly mind-blowing and almost like a small city inside. They take care of their employees in every aspect. Proud to be part of world's no1 smartphone maker during my journey. It was a great experience in every aspect of it.

They dont just make electronics, gadgets, n heavy industrial tools, they also have separate military department making C4I equipments for ROK Army (not to mention K9 Thunder, 1st native Self Propelled Gun. They are part of military industrial complex!). They are also largest shipbuilders in the world. 17% of SK economy is Samsung's. Living 5 years in Korea really gave me the true power n image of this company, giving Lee family strong political influence. Its amazing when you realize that this company was originally a tiny general wholesale street vendor.....

For those wondering, (this goes with Microsoft as well), Samsung uses MacOS and Apple products because of beta and app testing so they will work well on competing devices. They have to. The vast majority of US customers uses Apple products and the rest of the world uses Android and Windows. It's not that they want to use Macs, they have to so they can better their company and improve on what Apple gets wrong to slowly beat out the competition. Studying Apple's software to get a better understanding on what they are doing right and how they can build on that.

My ex was an engineer at Samsung electronics in Suwon office and he told me it was like working in a jail because of too strict security. Even all the parcels that were delivered to him in the office were thoroughly screened before he officially received them and there were other regulations for the employees. But it was 18 years ago and I bet many things have changed for the sake of the employees in a good way.

That was mostlu due to competition. Important designs and innovations cant be risked getting leaked outside before it is even made because a lot of work and capital goes into those things. Especially in the tech industry that is fast paced. Corporate espionage is also a thing around multinational companies.

@@alexwhitton1 i think because Egypt is closer to African market, middle east and Europe than china.. And cheaper workers and Egyptian government gave them free land to build it

If you live in South Korea, you will see the Samsung logo on everything, from phones to washers to fridges to cars (Renault), literally every kind of product you can think of. Samsung is one the main reasons that Korea boomed from an impoverished country to the affluent country it is today.

Count in Hyundai, LG, SK, Daewoo, Kia, Lotte, and CJ too. Hyundai, Samsung, and LG are the big 3 that helped in transforming Korea to a modern economic power.
