I am from Taiwan! I am honestly surprised by how many people are willing to watch a documentary about Taiwan. We have great medical and computational technologies but all the anonymous workings behind the scene without really having many world recognising brands leads to our lack of confidence, or at least in my opinion, that's the general feeling of Taiwanese people towards our country... THANK YOU BBC FOR MAKING THE WORLD SEE WHAT TAIWAN IS LIKE I would definetely recommend anyone to visit. We have great food, ranging from street food to fancy traditional restaurants. We also have one of the best and cleanest Metro(tube)system, it's still the best in my opinion after having visited many big cities. And beautiful mountains, lakes, and indigenous cultures!!

I am from HK and we could only envy the Taiwanese. You must thank the 6.89 million votes for President Tsai. She is safeguarding the sovereignty of Taiwan and her administration is working hard every single day without much appreciation. I visit Kaohsiung back in May. I witnessed firsthand how competent your current government is governing. PRC swine flu was already rampant back then, and the custom examined every single passenger luggage coming in from the PRC and Hong Kong. Without such stringent measure, Taiwan might long be plagued by the swine flu. Moreover, I fervently hope that the horrible events took place in HK for the past 5 months serve as an alarm to all Taiwanese that the KMT is untrustworthy and clown like 韓國瑜,柯P & Terry Guo are simply unelectable. The trio are detrimental to Taiwan’s very own survival.

Fun Fact: In the 1990s, the acronym "IC" which used to stand for "integrated circuit" in Silicon Valley, began to refer to Indians and Chinese, the latter of which were mostly Taiwanese. Indians and Taiwanese started thousands of companies in Silicon Valley during the 1980's ad 1990s, representing tens of billions in sales, playing a key role in the tech and internet revolution. This according to research by Annalee Saxenian, the dean of the School of Information Science at the U of California, who studied this "Brain Circulation" phenomenon between Silicon Valley and Taiwan, India, Israel and South Korea.

Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore are the best Asian countries to live in. It has homogeneous population, has a rich culture, has good infrastructure and public management. Asian countries are the future, because the West is dead stagnant in violence, corruption and mass immigration. São Paulo/Zona Oeste - Brasil 16/11/2019

Singapore don't have 'homogeneous population'. it's one of the most multi ethnic and multi religious countries in the world. if you read history of taiwan, japan and south korea, you'll see that throughout the past, they had significant immigration from mainland china. not only that, they're now opening up on immigration in general. also, there's no such thing as 'mass immigration' in europe or america now; don't buy into right wing fear mongering. the last time there was 'mass immigration' was during syrian civil war crisis in 2014-15; almost 4 years ago.

Stephen Beckett stated in the video that at the intersection in Taipei that they are mopeds, however, he’s wrong all of them that we see by their number plate are white and thus motorcycles varying from 51-249cc. Generally they are 125cc. Whereas, like the UK mopeds are 49cc or less, and they can be spotted because their number plate is green.

as a Taiwanese myself, it should also be pointed out that the main source of electricity is from coal/natural gas/fuel burning. So despite Gogoro is providing a solution for the direct air pollution for the riders, it is also increasing the use of coal-burning and what not. This is why it is important to develop alternative power sources. Green energy such as wind is difficult because of how the island is mainly formed (an entire mountain line cutting through). Hopefully Taiwan can successfully turn to nuclear power
