Inside The $30 Million Dassault Falcon 2000S Private Jet
0:00 - Intro
This is the Dassault Falcon 2000S, a large-cabin aircraft with fuel economy and operating costs that are much less than smaller aircraft in the mid-sized business jet category. Here is everything you need to know about the Dassault Falcon 2000S.
0:48 - Cabin
The cabin is standardized into three distinct colors/fabrics/materials, and one seating configuration: 10 passengers. The forward cabin features a traditional executive “club 4” seat grouping followed by six smaller single executive seats arrayed in a conference grouping around a “hi-lo” table. The cabin includes a large forward galley, an in-flight accessible baggage area, and a full-sized rear bathroom. The cabin also features a cabin dividing door, a passenger wardrobe, and an advanced baggage loading system.
The Falcon 2000S has an interior width of 7 feet 8 inches or 2.34 meters and a height of 6 feet 2 inches or 1.88 meters. The aircraft has a cabin noise in cruise of just 52 decibels. The 2000S also supports your wellbeing with abundant natural light and air that is constantly refreshed,
Dassault developed the cabin in collaboration with BMW Group DesignworksUSA, and came up with three initial harmonies: Alpine, Sedona, and Havana.
Creative lighting and color contrasts give the illusion that the cabin is even larger than it is.
At first blush, it appears they have succeeded, not just aesthetically but functionally. The resculpted passenger seats not only appear more stylish than those on the previous model; they offer better comfort. The Falcon HD cabin-management system is based on the Rockwell Collins’ Venue system with all the latest conveniences and features, including Blu-ray, Iridium satellite communications, widescreen HD monitors and the ability to control it all through a passenger’s wireless mobile device.
3:32 - Cockpit
The cockpit is fitted with Dassault’s EASy II digital avionics, which is built on the Honeywell Primus Epic system. EASy II combines the intuitive feel of a fighter jet with the most advanced avionics and computer back-ups, and further reduces pilot workload in countless ways.
Four large 14.1-inch LCD displays dominate the panel, presenting flight, navigation, communication, and systems monitoring data. At the heart of the interface is the cursor control device, a trackball located on the center console which helps pilots navigate through menus, select items, and reduces the need to reach the main panel.
Dassault has integrated fly-by-wire technology into the Falcon 2000S, which provides increased control, reduces pilot fatigue, and optimizes the aircraft's performance.
The 2000s also features supreme communication systems thanks to Falcon Broadcast, a service that provides real-time notifications related to aircraft system health, making both the crew and ground support aware of potential issues, and Falcon Connect, an option that allows crew and passengers to enjoy high-speed Wi-Fi.
Safety features include a Traffic Collision Avoidance System, an Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, and an Automatic Descent Mode.
5:50 - Engine, Performance Specs, and Flying Experience
Now, let’s talk about the engine, performance specifications, and how it flies. The Falcon 2000S is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW308C turbofan engines with a TBO of 7,000 hours, each producing 7,000 pounds of thrust. The Falcon 2000S requires a takeoff distance of only 4,325 feet or 1,320 meters at sea level under standard conditions. The engines allow a maximum rate of climb per minute of 4,500 feet or 1,370 meters, and a maximum cruising altitude of 47,000 feet or 14,325 meters. The plane has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.80 or 453 knots, with an average hourly fuel burn of 280 gallons or 1,060 liters.
The jet boasts a maximum range of 3,350 nautical miles, which is 3,855 miles or 6,205 kilometers. When it comes to landing, the aircraft can comfortably touch down in a distance of 2,600 feet or 792 meters. And finally, with full fuel, the aircraft can carry a payload of 1,850 pounds or 839 kilograms.
8:15 - Purchase and Charter Price
The base purchase price for a new Dassault Falcon 2000S is $30 million before options, and the charter price is estimated at $6,000 to $10,000 per hour. Naturally, prices will vary depending on availability, fuel prices, ground fees, and more.
8:52 - Operating Cost
While the annual fixed cost is roughly $600,000 to $900,000, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $3,000 to $5,000.
