Inside The $70 Million Gulfstream G650ER
Intro
This is the Gulfstream G650ER. With a huge and luxurious cabin, and an outstanding range, the plane is described as “a refined getaway above the clouds”. Stay with us till the end of the video because here is everything you need to know about the G650ER by Gulfstream.
Cabin
The plane boasts a very spacious and luxurious interior, which features a total cabin volume of 2,138 cubic feet or 60 cubic meters. The cabin can have up to four living areas, enough to work, dine, entertain and relax. The entrance door is more than six feet or 1.83 meters high, and the cabin is 8 feet 6 inches or 2.6 meters wide, and 6 feet 5 inches or 1.95 meters tall.
The spacious cabin houses single executive seats that are 28 inches or 70 centimeters wide, large aisles, and is fitted with 16 of the trademark Gulfstream large, panoramic windows. On top of that, when circumnavigating the globe, the G650ER is able to provide fully flat beds for a maximum of 6 passengers.
With a cabin noise level of just 47 decibels, the G650ER has one of the quietest cabins in business aviation. On top of that, the cabin altitude is one of the lowest: only 4,850 feet or 1,480 meters when flying at 51,000 feet or 15.5 kilometers and 2,800 feet or 853 meters when flying at 41,000 feet or 12.5 kilometers.
Gulfstream can configure the cabin for up to 19 passengers in any of 12 standard floor plans, with forward or aft galleys and with or without a dedicated crew rest area. The conference area is expandable from four to six seats by replacing the center cabin credenza with two single seats. With forward-galley layouts, a stateroom is an option just forward of the aft lavatory.
The plane provides uninterrupted connectivity to its passengers with an in-built wireless internet facility and multi-channel satellite communication systems. Gulfstream has incorporated the high-speed satellite communications network Jet ConneX. Also new this year, the G650 line features an external camera system that provides high-resolution video to the cabin monitors and flight-deck displays. Other features include a 42-inch flatscreen TV, video monitors, and extensive galley facilities.
Finally, at the back, a cavernous 195-cubic-foot baggage compartment is accessible through the rear lav. All that space means room for larger seats, windows, and monuments.
Cockpit
The cockpit of the Gulfstream G650ER is equipped with a PlaneView 2 flight deck based on Honeywell Primus Epic avionics. The aircraft can land in primitive environments and adverse weather thanks to standard features such as the Enhanced Vision System, which projects infrared images onto the pilot’s Head-Up Display, and the Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display, which uses terrain data to create a digital view of the plane’s surroundings in low-visibility conditions. The aircraft’s large windows allow for panoramic views and greater visibility, and pilots are able to navigate long-haul flights in comfort thanks to the plane’s shearling-lined and ergonomically designed seats.
The G650 also represents a transition for Gulfstream, into the realm of fly-by-wire flight controls.
Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, the G650ER is powered by two Rolls Royce BR725 A1-12 engines with a TBO of 10,000 hours, each producing 16,900 lbs of thrust. This combination is able to push the aircraft to a maximum speed of Mach 0.925 or 617 knots and up to a maximum cruising altitude of 51,000 feet or 15.5 kilometers, with an average hourly fuel burn of 500 gallons or 1,900 liters per hour. The typical cruise speed is Mach 0.90 or 600 knots, and the long-range cruise speed is Mach 0.85 or 566 knots.
The cabin altitude is one of the lowest in business aviation: only 4,850 feet or 1,480 meters when flying at 51,000 feet or 15.5 kilometers and 2,800 feet or 853 meters when flying at 41,000 feet or 12.5 kilometers.
The G650ER has a maximum range of 7,500 nautical miles, which is 8,630 miles or 13,900 kilometers. The plane can take off in 6,300 feet or 1,920 meters, has a maximum rate of climb of 3,570 feet or 1,090 meters per minute, and a minimum landing distance of 4,200 feet or 1,280 meters, all while maintaining a maximum net payload of 6,500 lbs or 3,000 kg and a full-fuel payload of 1,800 lbs or 816 kg.
Purchase and Charter Price
The base purchase price for a new G650ER is $70 million before options, and the charter price ranges between $10,000 and $12,000 per hour. Naturally, prices will vary depending on availability, fuel prices, ground fees, and more.
Operating Cost
While the total fixed cost is roughly 1 to 1.2 million dollars per year, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $5,000 to $6,000.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. I thought it would be a lot nicer. I bet when they gave Ted Danson a plane it was a LOT nicer than this one...

The G650ER is too old and too expensive, the G600 with a range of 12 200 km is the much better choice if you don't need the 1500 km extra range of the G650ER. You can save over 10 million, but get the much more modern jet with a modern touchscreen and sidestick cockpit and much more fuel efficient engines and the same 3 zone cabin layout with crew rest, or 4 zones without crew rest.

You really must have unlimited funds to fly in one of these. Not just the purchase cost, the maintenance must also run up quite the bill
