Inside the Buddhist Pilgrimage of Shikoku, Japan

Shikoku, Japan - In July, I spent a week road tripping around the smallest of the 4 major Japanese Islands - Shikoku. I was invited by the Shikoku Tourism Board to visit each of the 4 Shikoku Prefectures and discover everything there is to do in Shikoku.
It was very unique in comparison to my first Travel Deeper Japan trip where I visited the popular Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
Shikoku feels much more remote and a true authentic Japan travel experience - If you ever have the chance, add this to your list.
This episode is all from Day 1 in Shikoku, where we discover the famous Shikoku Pilgrimage or Buddhist Pilgrimage known as Ohenro.

The food like that sponge is called Kouya do-fu(it’s mean same as tofu)which is frozen and dried, and is a freeze-dried that has been handed down to Japan for a long time ago. It was made in a Buddhist sacred place called Koyasan (although it was said to have been destroyed by Oda Nobunaga). Originally it was one of the vegetarian dishes that monks eat. I'm Japanese but I didn't like this Kouya do-fu when I was a kid, but it was a strange thing that I became an adult and loved. It's a simple dish soaked in soup stock, but if you understand the deliciousness of this, you will understand the goodness of Japanese food. Anyway, thank you for coming to Japan again :)

(^~^)Gareth, welcome back to Japan ! ! It seems you have a lot of new experiences in Shikoku, Japan. I HOPE YOU TRY RIDING THE BICYCLE ALONG THE SHIMANAMI KAIDOU (しまなみ海道). It's a 60 km long toll bridge road that connects Japan's main island Honshu to the island of Shikoku , passing over 6 small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. There are two other land connections between Shikoku and Honshu , but the SHIMANAMI KAIDO(しまなみ海道)is the only one traversable by foot or bicycle. Enjoy you time in Japan ! ! !

Gareth. I love your channel and your attitude in general, and this video itself is great, and I'm excited to see that you're going back to Japan. But I have a little bone to pick here. This title comes off as condescending. My gut reaction to it was "you wanna bet?" And I had indeed heard of Shikoku. I know you didn't mean it that way; you're just imitating the clickbaity titles all those other creators use, to try and grow your channel, pursue you dreams, all that good stuff. But please. You're better than this. If you want to say Shikoku is a lesser-known island, say that (although it is one of the four main islands of Japan). Or call it "off the beaten path", or something like that. But don't assume what your audience knows and doesn't know. There are ways to peak people's curiosity that aren't insulting.
