The three lug bolt is why I bought the Gen I for my son. Glad though it is made of stainless steel now and the bolt lock is part of it too.

Fantastic upgrade to the Ruger American. Definitely going to be going Gen. 2

CHRISTIAN, I had experienced that type of explanation decades ago when Bill JR. Was the plant manager in Newport and Southfield. Outstanding was your specifics for folks who understand the differences in metals used for bolts, hammers, triggers, and frames during firearm manufacture. I have seen the new RUGER American 2 and found all the features you revealed to be an improvement in smoothness and felt operation while cycling the bolt. Almost as smooth as my older 77’s. Certainly an improvement over the gen 1. Please make in .350 as you already have bolt manufactured with the ..223 we handled today. Two individuals called on phone to purchase while looking at it. From my experience and number of heads turned in the gun shop you RUGER has a winner.

First thing I did on my gen 1 was sand the bolt smooth. Only thing I wish was different is an adjustable length of pull and comb as well as a three position safety. Looks like Ruger read my mind.

Very interesting.

I'd like to personally feel the bolt sliding

Its not all that smooth 😆 But its not terrible and boy does it shoot! Especially for a $550 gun.

The bolt is what kept me from ever getting a Ruger American. Glad to see it has been upgraded.

The boat? Just get a life jacket 😂

@mr.mr.3301 Should have bought the rifle before you bought the boat.

Really wish they had added an oversized bolt shroud to turn the gas 90 degrees in the event of a case failure, like the Ruger 77 and most of the other older designs.

3-lug bolt with a 70-degree throw for smooth and efficient operation.

I am happy with the changes of the rifle except for the pmag. I really liked the rotary mag and the smooth bottom action. But I will buy 1 or 2 or 3.

I disagree with your assessment of the magazine.
@tonycarter94856 ай бұрын
@Mike-xi4zt It's just personal preference. I don't use a sling very much and I like to carry the rifle at the balance point.
@Mike-xi4zt6 ай бұрын
@@tonycarter9485 every rifle I have with a ACIS style magazine that sticks out, has the balance point in front of where the magazine sticks out. There might be a different balance point depending on barrel length ect. Those type 1 plastic Ruger American magazines suck. ACIS style are not the very best but they are much better than the ruger and have the option of more capacity.

I believe Ruger addressed every issue that the American had. The only one they fell short on was the stock stiffness of the forend. The American II is improved in that area. However, more stiffness would be nice. That said, I think Ruger has done a phenomenal job with Gen II. Just fixing the zipper bolt was great, with stock improvements (I love the new texture) and 3 position safety while keeping it on the tang, impressive. Muzzle break instead of just a threaded cap is a bonus. This is why I just keep coming back to Ruger. They are the average working man's firearm.

You guys going to get the SFAR working reliably? I want one but there are way too many negative reviews on KZfaq.

I do hope that Ruger has standardized the making of bolts because when you have two rifles different cartridges 223R and 6.5 Grendel where the Grendel bolt is smooth the 223R bolt is zipper sounding. QC went out the door.

Tumbler makes non zippy? Was this not done one 1st Gen? Or is it a different type of zippy?

That safety, is the absolute worst. I won't buy it. If someone gave it to me, I'd either destroy the gun or at least ripe the safety out. You DO NOT put a safety on the neck of the stock. ANYONE who has owned guns and actually shoots them knows they wear down and then flip position every time you pull the trigger. I can't tell you how bad this is.

Will the gen 2 bolt handle fit into a gen 1 bolt?

Will pmags work with the AI mag Gen ii guns?
@GalleryofGuns6 ай бұрын
Depends on caliber. Most are AI-style, the 223 Rem is AR-style.

Ruger: when you post a barrel length it should be the legal length not the length with a brake unless that brake is welded.

I wonder if these new bolts make the same zipper sound as Gen 1?
@parkerkimber24466 ай бұрын
That is common from machining across multiple actions and always smooth out overtime. their new tumble polishing should definitely help but I would not expect it not to zipper a little bit when new.
@andymiddleton90576 ай бұрын
They do not. Picked up a 7mm08. Very smooth.
@waynebrown25466 ай бұрын
too badd they didn't tumble the bolts on the gen 1. it is my only gripe on either of mine. Zippy bolts...

Who the fuck is doing serious long range with a Ruger American?
@randallwhite90156 ай бұрын
The bolt is what I do not like about this firearm. To cheap, everything else I like, barrel length is awesome,and shoots great. A better Triger would be awesome as well. Had one traded for a real gun.

I am SO disappointed in this gun. Of all the amazing upgrades to the gun there is one that makes it unbuyable, the safety. Is there ANY POSIBLE way of moving the safety? That is the absolutely WORST place to have a safety. I am so tired of guns over time, having the safety wear down to the point where every time you shoot the recoil knoces the safety. I think a safety is very important, but I would rather have NO safety than that safety. Additionally, it is simply egonomically the absolutely worst spot to have a safety. I have so many Rugers and I'm so disgusted by this I'm not sure I'm ever going to buy another ruger again.
