This is absolutely not true! The so called € 1 home needs thausands of Euros for the administrative documents and renovation as well that is why Italian nationals don't want to buy this kind of homes!

@@jcnobels That goes without saying, of course. Bottom line is a few thousand here or there 'could' get you a nice home in a great place. It's a Whole lot better than spending $800,000 for a small house that also needs improvements in a very mediocre area at best in Los Angeles.

Can you please tell me how the transaction of buying a house goes in Italy? How much does it cost? How do you get an extract from the cadastre and make sure everything is legal?

@@lineage13 no, not in a private sale. You don’t have to do a deposit to the city or have deadlines.

Renovation will cost 5-600 Euros per square meter. Double that for extensive renovations. These costs assume that there aren't major undetected problems and that you'll find a competent and honest contractor (which in some areas is next to impossible). If you need to go to an Italian court of "justice", you'll never see your money again. EVER!
