Sorry I missed Warrior Cats 20th birthday... but I wasn't happy with the first version of this video, so I took the extra week to make it a hundred times better!

We all know about the Warrior Cats Hub, the current (and only) official warrior cats app. But over a decade ago, HarperCollins released a different app, and for the longest time it was unobtainable... until now!
I'll be diving deep into the unknown "Warriors" app that ruled my childhood in the early 2010s. Exclusive fun facts, interesting character profiles, and an official Warrior Cats game are all features the app brags about - but does it live up to the hype?

The intro for the app was the same intro for the old site 🥰 nostalgia at its finest. I miss when things weren’t a clean and sanitized corporate hellscape and actually had character to them.

12:03 from what I remember, that video was Vicky welcoming you to the world of warrior cats. It was under a minute long and she was either sitting outside somewhere or in her offer with her cat messing around on her window.

omg 3:46 that was also the same intro that ALWAYS played when you loaded the old website and it was SO LOUD. If you ever hear anyone mention a screamer on the old website that's what they're talking about. I always had to mentally prepare myself whenever i would visit the site. good times lol edit i forgot to mention WHY did they make cinderpelt exclusive trivia that she was in love with firestar????

i LOVED this app, i was so upset when my phone was too updated / developed to play it anymore 💔 12:02 , i remember as a child i used to watch the video from the video tab all the time since i thought it was so cool that i got to see one of the erins, i felt so honored lol the video from what i remember had one of the erins sitting in front of their house(?) in the grass on a sunny day, they were introducing themselves and the app and that’s all i know ..

I remember this app. I had gotten a Nook to read the digital-exclusive books that hadn't been printed at the time, and I had downloaded the app onto it. I can vouch that it was almost never updated. I know because I checked in often so I could continue updating my bookshelf in-app. I should still have it on the Nook, actually. I don't believe I ever uninstalled it.

I remember this, but I got to it from the web as a website. The timeline used to expand when hovering over them, but I remember one was glitched and it annoyed me.

A warriors topic i would love I dive into is lost characters!! I remember there being a cat called Batear who didn’t actually exist? And a cat called Troutfin!

The profiles of certain cats are interesting because, in the warrior cats ultimate field guide, the "certain cat profiles" are there.

omg i completely forgot about that app!! i got it when i first started reading warriors and i remember getting confused because a lot of the things in the trivia game were false and i would get them wrong,, i think i deleted it after reading multiple retconned things in the character descriptions as well SJSHSJ

I still have this on my old ipad. Tbh all it was good for as far as I can remember was the books section where I was able to mark off what books I'd read like a checklist.

I'm not sure what the timeline was for when they took the app off the app store, but I wonder if it was around the time where they got rid of every trace of Wayne McLoughlin art :(

@@aeluromancy2126 I agree, don’t get me wrong the new art isn’t bad per se but it’s what I call “too modern” because everyone is making animals look too realistic in media. Warriors is a fantasy series, that stylized art made them stand out. I guess it’s fitting for the art to match the quality of the writing nowadays. Which is really sad ;(

This app feels like a weird dream these days lol I remember the opening PV used to be on the old website too (but longer), and it would scare me half to death as a kid so much so that I had to turn the sound off whenever I loaded it up :')

The loading screen for the app/the website is BURNED in my mind. I was obsessed with the og website in any form. I remember thinking about the Leopardstar was a dry paw was so cool. I kinda miss the weird intro. XD

man i wanted this app SOOOO bad! my family was an android family at the time, and my grandparents didnt let me download it on their ipad (understandably) so i spent my time on deviantart and other websites making warrior cats OCs. my first email (hilariously, the one attached to this youtube, if that tells you how long i've had this account) has my warrior cats oc in the name TT man, this brings me back. thanks for sharing!

I genuinely love your content, i wasn’t like a warrior cats fan as a kid (although I have seen some MAPs of it (remember when that meant something better, yeah me too) I like learning stuff about other fandoms, and your videos are really well made and informative, they’re very fun to watch! Thank you for making it :) Edit:just saw the layout part of the video and immediately got transported back to the 2010s, i can practically feel my bones creaking now

oh my god i was terrified of the cat noises at 3:48 when i was like 10 bc i would stay up past my bedtime and look through the app on my tablet and the sound was always so loud that it got me in trouble with my parents multiple times😭😭

i had the app when i was a kid and i can confirm that the timeline text was readable in the old version !!! i have notebooks where i'd written down everything on the app word for word for quick reference (and because rewriting info about warrior cats was fun

YES i remember this! the app’s intro kinda scared me as a kid bc of how loud it was. i downloaded it on i think it was either my ipod touch or my moms ipad. i remember being kinda disappointed because i thought there would be more games and quizzes and they didn’t have profiles for every character but i liked looking at the maps and the timeline :)

This app excited me so much as a kid!! A personal story, but my goodness the little fact about Scourge actually hating the teeth in his collar because they made it hard for him to swallow, plus he just wanted to look intimidating in any way possible, made me happy to read cause I was bullied a lot for my height as a kid so I loved any new content about Scourge :,)

i remember this app omg 😭😭 i had it on my little samsung tablet and had not a clue it was ever taken down . it was up for a while because it had to be 2015 when i had it , i remember reading about characters like tigerstar and imagining it was a mother telling her kits about him lol . interesting video :-)

Oh my god I remember this app. The only time I remember using it was while my brother was at some Boy Scouts thing and the only thing I had with me was my iPad, but because there was no Wi-Fi the only app I had that I could use was this. I remember complaining to my dad that I was bored because there wasn't much to do and I had already looked through it all. I asked if there was Wi-Fi which I don't think there was. But that's the only time I remember using it

I had this app on my tablet years ago! I actually hadn't even read the first book yet back then, I'd just discovered that Warriors existed and was looking for ways to read the books without paying for them (I was 13, don't judge me xD). I found the app and was happy to read the first five chapters there, and on my next birthday either my parents or my grandpa (I forgot which) gave me the first two books (in Dutch :/ I'm from the Netherlands, but I was already fluent in English at the time and actually preferred to read in English). I remember reading all the clan profiles and looking at the timeline. Idk why I didn't do more, but I definitely did enjoy myself on the app :D

Its odd finding the fandom at this point. I was a fan of the series as it was coming out (the latest new release when i stopped was the greyfur(?) Comics and as a kid i wasnt even aware of a fandom. Now im an adult and discovering so much has happened since my youth is like a time capsule.

I liked seekers more than warriors honestly when I read both as a kid but then again, I did read seekers first so maybe I'm biased. I'm just glad to finally know the name of the series as I couldn't find it when I tried searching for it.

this video made me dig up my old barnes and noble nook (LMAO) i and i still had this downloaded! a slightly newer version, it's got yellowfangs secret in the book list but not much else. i remember always having the sound turned off because the intro cutscene made me so embarrassed that my parents would think im watching cat videos instead of reading

I actually had an iPad mini when I got into Warriors in 2014/15, and more and more the UI was shown, it feels familiar but also like I never had it. Sadly, even though my current iPad has the almost 10 year old data of that first one due to Apple's feature of loading an old device's data onto a new one, it seems that if I did have it, at some point it was deleted clean off the device, so I'll never know. I'm always a sucker for ways that writers can include little bits of trivia that would feel clunky if written into books, though.

I have something to suggest. This probably isn't worth for a full video, not much research, I just want to say something about it and see if it appeals to anybody. Did anyone notice Squirrelflight's personality change from Light in the Mist to River? Squirrelflight in the Broken Code was headstrong, ambitious, and kind, but in River and Sky, she's snappy and an unlikeable character, especially since she was the reason Nightheart moved to ShadowClan

How do you emulate an app that is no longer available to download? I'm really interested in tracking down the Night At The Museum 2 mobile game for Blackberry, which despite being listed on the same Wikipedia page as the film's console game adaptation, is in fact a completely separate game.

U know there’s an app called characters and that app contains info to all the cats former positions in clan and rank, age they died at, precursor and successor, mate and kits, other names, cause of death, for some cats a reference picture and their current position in clan and rank Apparently it says Scourge was at a point or is (I don’t remember anymore) in StarClan

I'm mostly laughing that it claims firestar's mother's identity was supposed to be exclusive. Didn't fireheart say his mother's name to Princess when he was proving they were siblings?
