This rifle can handle any load .357 you care to shoot. There's no 'concern' about the action linkage, because in the 'fire' position the lever causes the linkage to be nice and straight so that any recoil energy is transferred to the frame, which is the secondary reason they designed it so that it won't fire without the lever and linkages in the proper position.

Imagine the kind of man who creates a mechanism that does all of that in one smooth motion. He has to see it all happening in his mind before he cuts the first piece of steel.

Personally I don't like the safety mechanism. I find all grip safeties distracting (Colt 1903 & 1911). I think I would shoot my uberti 1873 more often if I could remove that mechanism without causing any problems. I shoot my Henry and 1866 most of the time. I have collected Uberti lever guns in 44-40 and 45 LC. I prefer 44-40 because it is more accurate and the slightly necked case expands into the chamber to keep powder residue blow back to a minimum. I really enjoyed this video showing the guts inside. Much better than a schematic. Also, you have a very clear and well paced voice, so my deaf ears understand everything you say. Keep up the good work.

I like the Model 1873 much better than the Model 1892. To me they're easier to disassemble and reassemble, and just as reliable. And being as simple as the 1873's mechanism is, it's still a design of pure genius. The toggle parts of my Miroku Winchester came from the factory with almost a mirror polish. I use it sometimes for feral hogs, but the .30-30 Henry is what I use most.

1873s are super smooth and beautiful. In my opinion they are the most attractive lever action not the strongest but I think they must be more than strong enough. Think about it they were sold for almost 50 years during a time where people used them on a daily basis for survival defense and hunting. I'm trying to decide what caliber I want. I'm thinking about the standard for the time 44-40. I know it's not as powerful but I think it must get the job done it was the standard for many years almost 50. I think we are brain washed thinking bigger faster but that is marketing. 200 grains of lead at 1300 fps will definitely do the job otherwise the cartridge would have never made it so long. I'll shut up now! Lol Great video beautiful rifle thanks 👍

Have you ever compared the pins on this toggle link to the pins on the Miroku Winchester? Just wondering because I know you Uberti offers a Winchester 73 in 44 mag. Just watching your video depends do appear to be larger than the pins that I've seen in other videos but it's hard to really compare without seeing them side by side. I think Uberti beefed up their Taco link system to be able to support the pressure of the 44 mag. Thanks 👍

If you are shooting CAS, you should go get an action job on a short stroke on the lever, make it race ready. Ask the guys at your local range for a gunsmith recommendation. The lever safety blocks the trigger. You can see the block move out of the way when the safety plunger is depressed by the lever closing. These are lovely rifles. I have no problem with not knowing everything. I have a problem with incorrect descriptions of how a firearm action operates.
@chapiit082 жыл бұрын
That's a safety feature to prevent out-of-battery ignition, once the lever is fully depressed the gun is both in battery and ready to shoot. For that reason I know that a .357 magnum 1873 replica made out of modern materials can easily withstand hot handloads which increases the effectiveness of that caliber out of a long barrel.
@chipsterb49462 жыл бұрын
