Welcome to the FloatLife Fest GT Race, where 120 racers are let loose all at once to take over Coler MTB Preserve's Family Flow trail, completing as many laps as they can within 25 minutes! This race is a classic in the community and is known for its top speeds, chaos, and a whole lot of dust!
I chose to run this race on my VESC setup, using an 84V CBCSO battery. I managed to hit a top speed of 32.8 mph while passing Jeff Adair for an early lead! Unfortunately, I had an extremely rough first trail lap, but managed to pick up my pace for the following laps and come out in 10th out of 120 racers 🤙

I have a feeling I know what the first ride you watched is 🤣 I want to look into a good leash system! Just has to be done right and with enough give. With how light I am, one that just becomes tight once it's fully extended would just whip me off the cliff with it hahaha

What kind of camera and chin mount did you use for this?

GoPro Hero10 Black! The chin mount is just a 3D printed one I got from Etsy that's designed to fit my Fox Proframe, but it's meant to hold the camera below the chin instead of in front of it (works fine for MTB, not so much for Onewheel), so I also got a small gopro mount joint that allows me to set it at a much better angle in front of my chin.

I was curious what rules for the race were, but seems fully custom VESC setups are allowed. Do they allow Floatwheels too(I would think)?

Yup! The Mass Start Race at FLF isn't associated with ORL (Onewheel Racing League) and is a totally open class race, just has to be a self balancing electric skateboard of some kind haha

10th/120! They cut it off at a certain time, so placements are based on how many laps you completed, and who got to their final lap the soonest for people with the same number of laps

For this one, I just connected to my board and screen recorded my phone. I have an Android, so I was able to use an app that prevented any mistake touch inputs from actually doing anything, so I could safely just leave the phone on in my pocket. And I use Adobe Premier to edit, so I just masked it out from the screen recording and overlayed it onto the video

It's riding that line for sure! Everyone out front is on GT's though, and I'm actually on a VESC setup with an 84V battery. On GT, pushback starts at 20mph, but you can push it beyond there if you're skilled and experienced enough to safely tell the limits of the board and ride that line. 30+ is definitely the drop zone where you have to feather it.
