The thing that stinks is the new government housing goes to the Chicago people. The drugs that has poured in is ridiculous! I hate that my son and grands live in that crap hole. It used to be a very nice and safe town not anymore. The officials forget to the people that the Chinese will be at the battery factory working

Kokomo used to be a good place to live. Not so much since the area's elected clowns filled it up with HUD voucher tourists from Chicago. Then there's the homeless camping out all over the place. This summer, there was some homeless woman who made residence out of the gazebo across from the police station - just moved in and made it her own, and nobody said squat. The last time that I went by there, she didn't appear to be home. Maybe they finally made her beat feet, but who knows. What I do know is that back when Kokomo was a good city to raise kids in, it would have never been tolerated. Much less the group of them that were raising cane at 2 am in public directly across from the police station. People here just don't give a crap anymore. The ones who appear to care are only do so because they are benefitting politically or financially - usually both. Half the rentals in town are held by out-of-state cash flow real estate investors who put their properties in the care of one or two property managers. Because investors own so many of the rentals, the price of rent is way higher than it should be. They do the bare bones minimum when it comes to upkeep of those dwellings, but that's the case with a lot of homeowners. The investors fail to maintain adequate standards because they're too greedy, and private ones because they're broke and depressed. I could go on and on, but the people who live here that aren't pretending to be blind know what I'm saying.
