The carbon in a bow grip gets just as cold as an aluminum grip or riser. When you are in a blind or a tree stand, after a short time, a carbon bow will be just as cold as an aluminum bow, their sensible heat will be the same. It is just that the carbon bow is not as conductive as the aluminum bow. As the aluminum bow is a better conductor, it will transfer energy quicker from one source to another. Heat runs 'downhill' and what you are feeling(in the aluminum bow) is the more rapid heat transfer from your hand to the grip of the riser. That is my little daily lesson on thermodynamics.

Have to say B.S on that your review on the carbon grip being just as cold.
@johnbasiglone1219
@johnbasiglone1219 4 жыл бұрын
@@peterbuilttough3406 if you set a carbon grip down in a blind for an hour and don't touch it and you set an aluminum riser bow down in the blind for an hour and don't touch it where both are exposed to the same ambient temp for the same amount of time, both will have the same sensible temperature. The aluminum is just a better conductor and transfers the cold more rapidly. I wish I could bet you, I'd like a chance for some easy money.
@peterbuilttough3406
@peterbuilttough3406 4 жыл бұрын
@@johnbasiglone1219 I have both aluminium bows and carbon. I've hunted out of a blind with both. Aluminium is always colder or hotter if in the sun. So yeah calling B.S. on your theory because its conductive or whatever scientific nonsense you're spreading
@johnbasiglone1219
@johnbasiglone1219 4 жыл бұрын
@@peterbuilttough3406 It's not scientific nonsense, it's science. Call it B.S., call it what you want. But it is a fact. After a period of time, if both bows are in the same environment for a long enough period of time, they will reach the ambient temperature of the surrounding air mass. If you hit them with an IR imaging thermometer, they will be the same temp. But if you were to grab the aluminum riser it will be colder because it is a better conductor and transfers the heat out of your hand faster. I could go outside right now and take a temp off of the concrete and the iron manhole cover that is sitting on my patio and the temp of my firewood stack sitting right adjacent to them. In fact, I just did. The wood, the steel manhole cover and the fire wood all are right about 31 degrees Fahrenheit. Now to feel each item, the iron manhole cover feels significantly colder than the concrete and the concrete feels colder than the wood and relative to the concrete and the iron, the wood does not feel cold at all. But all three are the same, actual measured temp. The difference is because the iron is a better conductor and the wood is a better insulator. Like I said, it's science. It is easiest if you have an IR thermal imaging thermometer. Personally, as part of my job is doing heat-load measurements, I own about five IR imaging thermometers, a Fluke, a Fieldpiece, a couple Kleins and a Milwaukee. But at times I use a digital multimeter and a thermocouple and sometimes I use a multimeters and and IR with a standard digital thermometer. Go check it out for yourself. But if you try to take an IR temp off of a mirror like surface it is not as reliable, you have to have the correct emissivity factor programmed into your instrument.

I just wish PSE would put the LAS system on their flagship hunting bows. I see companies like Bowtech and Elite bringing forth "new" tech for simplicity of tuning when PSE has had it for a while now. Shimming isn't difficult but you need a press and it takes time. The new Mach1 is a definite refinement of previous Carbon Air though. I think it will do well for them. The Evolve cam system is the best for power distribution through different draw lengths out there. Its a winner for sure.

Will be down to the bow rack to buy my new bow once all the new bows have been released.

Now looking at PSE’s website the EC also tops out at 30.5 inch draw. I have been shooting a pse bowmadness at 30.5” for five years. But really my draw length is 31.5”. I am used to shooting at that shorter draw. But feel my groups would improve if I had the correct draw length. Any advise on this. You mentioned that they redesigned the '20 Mach 1's riser to minimize hand-shock. While this is true for their aluminum riser bows, I have both a '18 & '19 Carbon Stealth EC - neither have hand-shock... The '20 CS EC is unchanged from '19. The only difference between the '18 & '19 is axle diameter.
@InsideOutPrecision
@InsideOutPrecision 4 жыл бұрын
I have to respectfully disagree. There is a huge difference in the design of the riser. Maybe you haven't shot other bows, but the 18 and 19 models had a lot of hand shock, comparatively speaking. If you shoot them one after another, you'll feel the difference.
