There's an obvious market for this product, and this gentleman does a very good and natural job of explaining what it's all about. I accept he has to advertise the brand, but I think there's a genuine love of vinyl and music underneath. Nice job.

It was amazing to how much this gentleman talked about a simple USB turntable. Great video to learn marketing skills. Also a great way to get more people into turntables by getting them to use the usb.

VERY GOOD EXPLAINED - I JUST GOT MY OWN UNIT ... GREAT MODEL. I'm the CD starting type of listener, as lp stopped in the 90ies. But I still got 25 lps from the 80/90ies and will get some new. I like the idea of HighRes-Audio.

Yes and you also have those pops and clicks (of the vinyl) transferred into hi-res.

I reviewed this turntable for a company and was curious to hear the difference from a CD album with the same album but vinyl version and the CD still sounded better and more punchier and bassy and clearer. Still its a nice upgrade from a Audio Technics LP120 which was the best USB turntable for me up to now.

The wavefrom readout revealed that this demo has the exact same balance bias where the left channel is louder than the right that mine has. Why does this happen? Would replacing the stylus help?

A Solid slab of good turn table. I have it and love it. Wish it had a removable headshell to experiment with different cartridges, though you can change the cartridge carefully.... Good reproduction and excellent built in phono pre-amp and the best DAC is any turntable at any price. If i had to step up it would be a Technics SL 1200 series and beyond that the pinnacle of fine engineering, the Yamaha GT 5000.

great idea for this type of market. however I do miss the QS series audio components made between 2000-2005 the amp (UK) inc mos-fets tonally a british sounding amp + the dab matching tuner uk. if they were now made again using later technology having a streamer in the range I would be a happy guy( must be uk.tuned).I still have my direct drive + quality audiophile vinyl.

+Mario Garon: Don't know about the film part, but analog master tapes definitely do not hold more information than a CD or digital in general since they are physical things and you can put only so much information into a physical container. They suffer from physical limitations while digital does not. Pretty much same goes for the film ... 4K is only the beginning and that 70mm will get superseded at some point. It's only a matter of time.

AquaticNeonn you aren't the target market, you can buy an rp1 for a similar price and get superior sound but the main market for this turntable is people who want to make hi-res digital versions of their albums for portable music players.

+mrtheoden: You are mistaken in couple of points... first of all, CD's are not limited to 20hz/20khz, that's actually the human hearing range and not the CD's frequency response. CD's can go from 0 Hz to 22 kHz. Secondly, inaudible frequencies are just that ... inaudible. They do not get registered by your brain since your ears cannot register them in the first place. So no, they do not somehow "_help the human ear build a spatial picture of music from a 2D sound system"_, that's not how humans work or audio in general. "Spatial picture" is based on timing cues and how the sound waves bounce and go into your ear canal. Thirdly, there are no such things as "more natural" or "organic" or "forced" or "unnatural". Sound doesn't work like that and you just cannot randomly spew adjectives when they have no connection to the subject. Then again, the moment you start talking about how LP and CD differ in sound, you are stepping into the domain of mixing and audio engineers. They are responsible of how the product will sound at the end of the day when it's played back by the customer. Also you as a customer will affect greatly how it will sound with your equipment. If something sounds different, then it's either your equipment creating that difference or it's an inherent quality based on the overall production i.e. mixing and mastering made by the recording studio.

Can I connect my own receiver with my own speakers for better quality sound?
@kaosoft

If it works as any other respectable turntable, yes. It offers grounded option for PHONO (bypasses built-in amp), and LINE in case you don't have/need the pre-amp.

@kaosoft
@kaosoft 7 жыл бұрын
Not sure, really. You either need a pre-amp, or a receiver that has RIAA correction (not sure any Sony has it), like the Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver, smile.amazon.com/dp/B00EE18O7W and you can pair it with Pioneer SP-BS22-LR, smile.amazon.com/dp/B008NCD2LG Sorry if I cannot offer any other option, since I mostly just set it up with my own amp and DAC and use headphones. Have fun!

I love the idea! Capture Vinyl in "High Res"! Vinyl has roughly (translated ) around 11-12 bit depth and resolution of roughly 30-35khz . So while you can already capture every little detail of Vinyl on a simple 44.1/16bit resolution Maybe the vinyl will sound better if you store it in 2 or even better 10 times bigger files in High Res! It will also make the Dynamic Range capability of Vinyl bigger ..........noooooot :-) Oh man I love Audiophile Santa Claus stories. Need to get my pop corn :-)

Can't you turn it off? I have a Marantz turntable with built-in preamp and I can just choose to turn it on or off. Just like this Sony turntable.
@VinylRescue
@VinylRescue 8 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no. There is no off as everything goes through the preamp. There's either USB or LINE. USB was horrible as it made a loud squeal and LINE used the built-in preamp, which made music dull and lifeless. I read through many forums and other videos here on YT and decided to removed it. At first I removed it and wired into the existing wiring from the PBC board, but eventually soldered in a pair of custom built shielded RCA cables directly to the tone arm wiring to the cartridge. Yes, it was well worth the work as it was a night and day difference in music quality. Maybe not all built-in preamps in other turntables have this issue, but many complained that Audio-Technica's built-in preamp just plain sounded BAD!
@bakkermaarten007
@bakkermaarten007 8 жыл бұрын
That's not nice, not being able to choose which pre-amp you want to tuse (built-in or receiver). Sounds like a technical job to remove it. Good luck!
@VinylRescue
@VinylRescue 8 жыл бұрын
I initially removed it over 2 years ago and installed the RCA cables a few months ago. With the built-in preamp in I couldn't use a separate preamp. I found a YT video showing step-by-step on how to remove it. It wasn't all that hard and it was worth it. I just within the past week moved to a different recording setup bypassing my computer's sound card. Now I'm using a USB interface (Novation Audiohub 2X4) and a new preamp (ARTcessories DJ PRE II) and results just can't get any better than this for home recordings. I'm posting a new video on my channel shortly showing my new setup. Also posted a music video yesterday of a recording of this setup.
@kaosoft
@kaosoft 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. Don't listen to the other person. The PHONO option is precisely setup so you can bypass the built-in pre-amp and use whatever you want; they even give you GROUND. I hate misinformation.

12:26 of marketing bla. Sony did way,way,way better in the past regarding vinyl spinners,storming the market with high quality AND affordable q-locked directdrives in the late seventies. If you want a true "highrez" deck get a old Sony PS-X,put a good cartridge under its headshell and voila: vinyl heaven.

+keith „yoro 70“ parkhill Well,ppl are different. Some are casual who are just manipulated into the urge to follow a fashion,others are gral seekers with deep pockets,others are musiclovers with a disposition for the technical aspects of their hobby. Personaly i always saw it more practical: How i get to satisfying quality as cheap as possible. Probably that has something to do with working hard to make a living or so. Anyway,it led me to see things rational,do DIY and look out for vintage gear.

What if I want to rip tracks that have never been converted to digital and that I have no hope will never see a (re)release? There are plenty of those in the genre I'm listening to, so in my case USB turntables are not that much rubbish after all. Of course if all the tracks you like are recent and on digital then I don't think the USB function will be of much use as there's indeed no point in ripping them.
@TechCrazy
@TechCrazy Жыл бұрын
Noisy digital files? A clean record, stylus and noise removal tools in Audacity will do the trick. Vinyl has the top and bottom end of the frequency range chopped off due to its limitation but anything in between you can't beat the continuous wave form. DSD gets as close to analog as possible. But you might be better off listening to your digital files if this is not your thing.
