Are you looking for the best pickup truck out there? If so, you need to watch my 2023 Ford Lightning XLT review!
The Ford F-150 Lightning is one of the most popular new EV trucks on the road, and for good reason. In this video I explain what I like and dislike about the Ford Lightning after driving it for 2 months.
This pickup is amazing! It's perfect for anyone who wants a powerful and stylish electric truck. I highly recommend it if you're in the market for a new pickup truck.

As an XLT order holder, I couldn't agree more with your assessment of the interior. Love the tech but for 60K, I too have reservations about the materials they're using. would be nice to feel a *little* more premium.

This complaint came up a lot when I was in my 20’s and into the Subaru WRX. You’d pay $30K+ and get an interior that looked like it came out of a $18K $hitbox. You were paying for the turbo charged engine and amazing handling, not the interior quality. It seems with the Ford Lightning similar compromises are being made. You get the battery but if you want a nice interior it will be $100K.

I have Cybertruck and Silverado EV reservations. I love F150s but never strongly considered this bc of charging infrastructure. Now since they are partnering with Tesla, I may do one as soon as they get the Tesla NACS port from factory.

Good morning 🌤️, Much thanks for your informative video on 2023 Lighting. Congratulations! How much time did you wait for your new Lighting from date/time of you placing order?

I put in the $100 deposit with Ford in June of 2021 and was in the 2nd wave of orders that went out in Aug of 2022. I received my truck in Jan of 2023. So it was a long process but I was not in any hurry and worth the wait in my opinion!

I am in the same spot you were. 2019 F150 Race Red short box 3.5l ecoboost 57000km. Cam phasers-gone, transmission valve body- gone, broken shocks, 10 speed transmission after valve body replacement is horrible, smokes, rattles etc. Looking at 2023 $67000 xlt lightning but don't want all the Ford issues. If they still can't build a proper ICE truck how can they build a proper EV. My truck is a beautiful, sadly a POS.

I haven’t had any issues with mine in the first 8 months. Far less moving parts and I would not go back to a ICE truck. Plus Ford just lowered the prices!

I live in Wisconsin and the garage on my house is to small to fit any vehicle bigger than a sedan. If I got the lightning and had to park outside all year how will this affect charging, precondition and range?
@EV_Insider
@EV_Insider 7 ай бұрын
It all depends on your charger. If you can install a level 2 charger and be able to leave it plugged in when parked you should be fine. The battery management system will use the charger to condition the battery, etc.

Whoa! I also took delivery of a 2023 Lightning in Avalanche the first week in January. I was hesitant to install a permanent charger because of the app. If I'd known your disconnect the battery trick, maybe I wouldn't have traded it back in to the dealer. It's still setting on his lot with a hundred miles on the odometer.

Your electric bill will go up for sure!What is your utility kw rate?
@ohger1
@ohger1 Жыл бұрын
My electric bill went up about $50 per month (Tesla S LR), and my gas bill dropped from $250 to zero (BMW 540i). I also don't pay $80 three times a year for oil changes.

Not nearly as much as the gasoline cost for my 2014 F150. 131 kwh battery. If it were empty. Which of course it never is & I never charge to 100% but At $.12/kwh to fully charge my battery from empty costs me $15.72. With that I can drive anywhere from 262-330 miles or more depending on my speed & driving habits. Now put that $15.72 worth of gasoline in an empty F150 and compare the distance using the same speed and driving habits. Regardless of what the price of gasoline is the lightning will get better mileage range. The ICE truck would have to achieve 33-42 mpg to match the lightning. That's at $2/gal. Increase that to $3/gal the ICE truck will have to achieve 50-63 mpg to match the lightning. And the lightning only gets better as the price of gas goes up. Now add in the cost of maintenance required on an ICE truck.

So I think the price of new batteries needs to be factored in to the equation ( estimated at $30,000 for standard duty). Yes your day to day might be a bit less but the battery will either need replaced or it will lower the resale value because it will be looming on the horizon .

You say you dont pay 80 dollars 3 times a year for oil changes , how come you change oil that much ? Also you bought this truck so of course your going to say how great it is. But from the videos I see EVs are a real POS
@phenom354
@phenom354 6 ай бұрын
Typical oil changes are 5-7k miles, average car usage per year is around 15k miles. If you don't own an EV don't let other people sway your opinion. @@ronaldgavlick732

This guy thinks he's Christina with the up talk??......trust me, the only cheap feel or sound from the 2023 Lightning is that Mattel gear shifter....wtf were they thinking?....really hope that team got an F. I've owned mine for 2300 miles, and haven't spent a freaking dime on gasoline...(and it's like driving a Ferrari or Lambo....people are ALL the time running up on me and checking it out...).....AND, at 3 tons, it'll out-perform both in a straight line!!!

Interior of F150s look so cheap compared to the GM twins, even on higher trims. I owned multiple F150s and that’s always being my complain. Own a 2023 Silverado RST and the interior is way better than my wife’s 2022 F150 Lariat.

There are many articles of vehicles catching fire and destroying things. I've owned 2 vehicles that randomly erupted into flames in my life and they weren't EV's. Who cares how bad the fire is when your vehicle and everything near it is destroyed regardless? Did you know that ICE vehicles are far more likely to catch fire than EV's?
