I love how this went from "how does your husband survive with pink walls?" to the beautiful heart of marriage, love and meeting one another's needs.

As a personal friend of Jorge and Nikki, I can confirm that this is 100% accurate of their relationship and always has been well before this channel existed. When I visit their house I have never felt the home looked or felt “girly” or overly feminine, Nikki makes the home feel warm and comfortable and that’s all I have ever felt about it and I’m saying that as a guy. It’s strange to think that anyone would feel uncomfortable or awkward in their home, especially Jorge.

My husband and I have been married 38 years. My mother told me when I was 17, "Treat him like a king, and he will treat you like a queen." You two have just explained this to the younger ones that watch your videos. Lovely! Thank you!

I used to think that my husband didn’t care about the inside of the house because every time I asked his opinion he said he didn’t care. After 40 years of marriage I realized that I completely misunderstood the whole thing. For him it wasn’t about the things, it was about the feel. As I brought my personality into each paint color choice and decor item I was Blessing our home; Making it warm and cozy for our family. That is what he loved. That is what has made him feel comfortable and relaxed at the end of a long hard day at work.

At my house, my husband is the Outside Team Lead. I’m the Inside Team Lead. The kids are in training for both teams 🤣🤣 It works for us. I genuinely do not even notice when the grass needs to be cut but I do notice that the ceiling is a touch grayer than I’d like it to be. My husband could not care less about the ceiling color but will measure each blade of grass. It works for us. At the end of the day, we trust each other enough to know that we’re each considering the other in the decisions we make. So it works.

This is so very interesting! My husband was building our home when I met him. I was completely honored that he let me have influence with his choices. As a result, we tend to make our choices together. Last night, I caught my husband staring at different places around our home. When I asked if everything was okay, he responded with “You’ve made my house really pretty.” 💕

I feel that the home is an extension of the wife. He loves you and so the home is just a part of what he loves about you. I’ve been married 30 years, dated my husband 4 years and our home makes my husband feel “at home”. My husband takes care of the things I don’t want to do and I love taking care of the home and family. I never wanted to work and my husband said I’d never have to if I didn’t want to. When we were young that meant sacrifice and building a life together.

Traditionally women were always the keepers at home. My father also never had a say in decor. My mother did all the decorating and picked out all the furniture. She let us kids decide on what furniture we wanted when we became teens but my dad never wanted to be bother with that stuff really. But if we touched his things in the garage and shed their was hell to pay. That was his space lol.😄

He said, “I’m wondering where my Cheetos stains are?” 😂😂😂 Such a beautiful couple! It’s great to see such genuine connection between you two.

I love how traditional you both are. I try to be that way too. My husband does care about colors. But we meet in the middle and make it work.

Each marriage is different. In my case, my husband cares about everything regarding the house as decorations, furniture, etc. We choose together the way the house looks (paint color, furniture, appliances, even the curtains) so our home reflects the taste of both. The decoration of our house is neither masculine nor feminine but one that has the preferences of both, approved by consensus. It has feminine touches in some areas and masculine touches in others. With me there is no problem with this because, although also I consider myself very feminine, the decoration that I like is sophisticated modern style rather than classic and romantic with flowers, etc. I think this helps a lot in my case ... LOL. But every person is different and there are men, like Jorge that prefer that his wife decor the house and is very valid too. Beautiful video!

Jorge is just like my husband. He could care less how I decorate and if I change something he doesn't notice it. I think our traditional lifestyle is becoming extinct as time marches on and it can be hard for non- traditionalists to understand it. 🌷

This makes so much sense to me. My husband is very much like this...and we have been happily married over 50 years. My husband was in the timber business and a very masculine guy. I am very traditionally feminine and love to have my environment cozy and soft. Over the years when we have his business associates over, they have been surprised and teased him a little and he just blew it off. He has his man cave and shop area & I let him make the decision how to decorate and organize those areas. We actually have both changed a bit and our styles have become more similar in our retirement years. It’s nice to see a young couple actually communicate with respect and a bit of humor. You both are going to be ok...your marriage & family are important to you both. Be blessed... 💕

We live in the old house that my husband grew up in. A lot of decor his mother put up is still here. All the beautiful 60s wall paper goes perfectly with our traditional decor. He has his garage and office for him to decorate. He loves seeing the floral and traditional decor because he thinks it makes our home look like a magazine, which is what I strive for!

My husband is like that - very masculine and doesn't care how I decorate. He cares about food and things being organized, he doesn't care about the colors. My style is more beachy/ shabby chic, not pink, but he likes that I am feminine and care about decorating.

It seems so odd to me that people assume you would do something that made Jorge feel uncomfortable in y’all’s home. You have a respectful, loving marriage. You both put the other person’s priorities first & sacrifice where the other person’s priorities take center stage. It’s healthy compromise. Jorge is a masculine man who isn’t threatened by his wife’s feminine decor. In fact, living somewhere that makes her feel content makes him happy. That’s love.

My guess is that although he may not notice when a specific change is made, it most likely does effect his mood. That is what we do. We create a mood, an emotion, a personality. We express who we are in our homemaking. The fact is, our husbands married each of us because they were drawn to who we are as women. The way we make a home is part of that. So of course he loves the way the home looks; it looks like his beautiful wife whom he loves. I so appreciate the way that you both love and honor each other. I have a husband who is very smart and is a CPA. He married a very creative woman who’s feminine and happens to be a hairdresser. When we bought our home he let me decorate the whole thing the way I want, it he took care of the budget, he told me how much we had to spend and I respected that and stayed within my budget. I’m the creative one who can decorate. He can’t decorate he’s not that type of man. He loves everything I pick out. I’m very feminine and have a very comfortable home that he loves.

You are a GOOD man Jorge. I have been married for 51 years!! My husband has very similar views. In all these years...he has slept in his share of pink bedrooms 🙂 even in floral sheets....imagine that!😉 His concern...the bed was comfortable and I was snuggled up next to him. It's not that we necessarily focused on a "division of labor " by sex...it seemed natural...and...as we believe in God's plan. That's not to say that my husband didn't change diapers, wash dishes, give the children baths..etc. or that I never mowed the grass, pulled weeds, painted siding, changed light bulbs..etc. We have always been a team...working together. Thru the years sometimes we have decorated our home together if/when it matters and compromised when needed. One of our boys married a woman with her own professional career...their way is different yet traditional. They share most all of the household and children responsibilities but she still honors him as head of their home and he strives to please her, guards and protects their family unit. So...that works too. I think it all comes down to the love and respect that we give in a marriage....Love your spouse as you would love yourself. Some days one or the other gives or takes a little less or more...but the heart is always...100% . I've watched your channel for quit some time....you are on the right path. Hahahaha Jorge's conclusion is cracking me up! Yes my husband does care and would not want pink decor and flowery stuff, but... Neither would I. We have a pretty good agreement about our home and decor, and it's my job to decorate, but I get his input on it because he does care. 🤷 Everyone has to do what works for them and their marriage. Oh my goodness!!! You two are so lovely and genuine about all of this! It was like watching and listening to my husband as Jorge explained his thoughts on these topics! You two are so right though, it is about each of you serving and giving to each other. Thats how The Good Lord works out all of our 'fleshly' ways, by thinking about others needs first, serving one another without tying to dominate or crush each other, but encourage, bless, and edify each other for Love sake. You are a beautiful example to others. And Jorge is right, its not about compromise or delineating who should do each task, but serving one another because you want to bless your spouse and appreciating that the 'Home' can reflect love, order and beauty OR chaos, neglect and stress. The modern way, is for each to get, take and do what they want until they are no longer 'happy' or satisfied with their spouse (or whatever) then they move on, because they are not happy... But this is not love, this is selfish, and the opposite of love. As Christians, we are commanded to Love one another, you obviously know and live by this! My husband and I and our kids just got a new couch recently, at the store I kept asking what type and what color he liked, and repeatedly he just said that it’s my couch and to get whatever I like. The sales lady said he’s so good to me. And she’s right:) thank you so much for the male perspective on this.

You two remind me so much of my husband and I...although we've been married for 47 years. He just wants me to be happy. I know that he would NOT prefer to live in very feminine surroundings, but he would never complain if I decorated like you have (and I do LOVE your taste). We've found a style that we both like, and are quite happy with. You and I are both very blessed to have kind, loving, caring husbands. My husband supports me in all that I do. If I wanted to be a "lineman" he would say go for it... but he insists on taking out the garbage, doing the repairs, holding doors open for me, etc. He says "you are my wife, and the mother of our children (we have 10)...you have the more difficult job of the two of us!"

Very interesting video! I agree 100% that in marriage you need to have an understanding of what’s important to each spouse, and each marriage will be different. I was hoping after watching this video and sharing the information with my husband, I may be able to get at least one pink room, but instead, you convinced me I don’t need one. My husband is also very traditional in taking care of the car, things that need to be done in the yard, he lifts the heavy things and fixes whatever’s not working, but my husband does care about the decor. He and I love picking out paint together and thrifting for furniture, lamps, and wall hangings, and we both have a love for older and more traditional style pieces, which is something I love about our marriage! But after hearing your husband say he doesn’t care at all about the interior design and that’s why you can have pink without it bothering him, it really makes me want to honor my husband’s preference to not having pink walls in our decor.
