Just goes to show, another way to garden. Love the wall behind and the elevated planter. Everything looks great the size her foundation plants are, but things grow and get bigger. What a great sensory source for her son. Wonderful!

Aloha from Oahu. My Sun patience are in full sun, all day, surrounding my Hibiscus and my Birds of Paradise and they are now MASSIVE WHITE CLOUDS! I mean massive. Mine have easily spread past 4 ft and 3 ft tall and still increasing. I have the little drip lines sprayers so they get good consistent water. I also started with small starts and it took them no time. I made sure to get compact variety in other places after seeing what sun patience can do in my front island. Lol.

Both of you ladies need to make a road trip south to Otto & Sons in Fillmore, Calif. you would lose your mind. They are a commercial rose growing nursery that is open to the public 4 days a week. Look them up, even their website is beautiful 😊

Such a pretty garden. It's wonderful that your son loves to help. My nephew also has autism. He has loved to help auntie in the garden. He is getting older, fifteen, but he still occasionally helps and he loves being outside.

What a joy! Melissa is so cute & and I love what they’ve done with their yard. I cannot imagine he stress they were under. I did have Covid and breast cancer but that somehow seems like no big deal compared to the stress of something going on with a child. God bless you!!

I’m in 9b in Martinez Ca and my blue hydrangeas are 6 ft around with blue flowers. They do well because they get enough water and morning or tree filtered sun.

It always amazes me to see how gardeners can be so creative with a piece of property in the middle of a suburb. There are many ideas I get from some channels that have a large piece of property and I used to get 'garden envy'. Melissa (and Patrick!) show us otherwise. I LOVE the raised bed in the back which adds an element of dimension. 🌹🌞

What a lovely garden space she has. Wish she was my neighbor! How do you all get your Heliotropes to grow so large? Janey turned me on to them and I grew some from seed and purchased 3 as a safety measure. They are small mounds here about 12inches across. Planted them in pots this year to see if they like that better. Thanks for taking the time to film these new gardens for us Janey! 8a MS

What beautiful gardens Melissa has. I was so amazed at the row of vegetables she has. Wow, I would love to do that with mine. I think it is awesome that her son who is autistic loves to be in the garden. That is such a relaxing and great meditation for him and the whole family. My son is autistic too (high functioning) but doesn’t like the soil on his hands. It’s interesting how certain things work for different stages of autism. Fun tour - beautiful garden! You should try the Camelot and/or Dalmatian foxglove varieties - they bloom the first year! I've grown them indoors from seed as well as with wintersowing - both ways get first year blooms for those varieties 😍

I love your channel and watch it every morning here in NE FL. We are also in Zone 9B but we get summer rains, heat, and humidity. I so enjoy the Sunday garden tour. It’s such a joy to see another small suburban yard in CA growing so beautifully. I’m in SoCA zone 10 with a similar sized yard and I’m always on the lookout to see how others in our climate can push zone limits and use water carefully without resorting to all cactus and succulents (even tho I love those too). Thank you Janey for sharing your friend’s garden and I hope to see more in the future!

Another amazing garden tour! Melissa is such a rare find. So relatable and fun. My son was diagnosed with autism in 2022 and gardening became our therapy. It was the one thing we could do together and still let him be his authentic self. I don’t have Instagram but I will just so I can follow. Great job ladies!
