Thanks for the review! I bought a second hand X2 a year ago after watching your videos and im very happy with it! It's so cool to just stick it on your handlebars, press record and never worry about it is an absolute win. I do have some issues every once in while with the cam, it just stops recording randomly. I browsed around and there are more people reporting this. I would definitely upgrade to the X3 if thats a non issues on that hardware.

I have same issue with X2 when recording long timelapses. According to forums that still occurs with X3. Some say that better SD card fixes it, some say it wont fix it. I have now Sandisk extreme pro on my X2 now and havent had the problem, though I havent had long timelapse shoots in a while so I might be wrong.

How’s the battery life in the cold like -15°c? I would use this for snowmobiling and temps vary greatly. Right now I use a GoPro 9 with 4-6 of the cold weather batteries.

Hey there! I have been "with you" almost from the beginning and watched almost all your vids, especially the ones on the insta360. Thanks for the ride. Editing on the studio is complicated for me and i do it in the App, in snap mode, but the quality isn't that good. Is there a way to export from the app in higher/better quality? Thanks

Battery life seems pretty low for huge bike days. Does it shoot while being plugged into the usb port on the bike hence not needing to rely on the battery?

I haven't had issues of gopro crashing on newer models when I started updating them through the SD card, not the app. The update from the app is a joke.

I have the X3 and have been having issues with the battery shaking loose on my rides. I've got it mounted vertically to my mirror, and it shakes enough during a 20-minute highway ride that it'll stop recording. 😢

I just bought the Osmo Action 4 for my one week greece trip and it was awesome. Specially with the bigger sensors and the magnetic mount that dji has it was a nobrainer for me. Someday I am gonna go for the X3 aswell for these awesome shots but keep the osmo action as fixed camera becaus of the magnetic mounting system. Changing it from selfie stick to my backpack mount in 3 Seconds was awesome while exploring greece.

Kinda same but kinda different purpose cameras - X3 and GoPro/Osmo. From what I see, you get a sharper image with a better color-balance on the GoPro/Osmo with maybe some reliability issues. With the X3 you get the versatility of your footage, and yet the color is colder and darker. I'm assuming you can probably tweak that up somewhat. Great review.

Hey Rob - epic channel which Ive binged. Possibly stupid question re Insta360 x 3 as main motovlog camera. I see that Airpods can be connected via Bluetooth, in which case can you simply place Airpods in your helmet for audio? I know you can do this with an Instamic. Thanks again Rob.

I'm an X3 User with Lens Guard, the only problem with "Lens Guard" is when it get scratched it will have a glare effect when hit by sunlight, if you're shooting during Sunny Day the Lens Guard starts to moist at middle part of both front/back camera. You'll start to encounter SD Card Error, Battery Freeze, Overheating when you're shooting on sunny day base on my exeperience, overheating usually happens when shooting 5.7K Resolution, Overall it's a great action camera.

I love the Insta 360 but... that GoPro 12 footage looks very very good. I agree with the horrible reliabality of the GoPro products but... It looks great.

I just bought an X3, just waiting on some mounts to arrive from Amazon. I'm kind of worried that the lens protectors won't stay on when I'm using the sleeve it comes with or the official lens cap, they are very tight fitting. I am a fan of GoPro except for the reliability. There's no reason it should freeze up recording 4K30 after only 10 seconds, it's frustrating. It's also frustrating that they don't seem interested in upgrading their 360 cam, the Max. They brought out an enduro battery for it so they are still supporting it, but the tech is super old. I was hoping for an upgrade this year, but still none so I went with Insta360 this time. So far, so good.

The Insta360 X3only records for 29 mins then goes to sleep for 30s before continuing recording. How do you cope with this for a single ride? Also do you know if the Insta GO3 also has the same limitation?

I had no idea this was a thing! I guess I only shoot for less than a few minutes at a time. Are you using it as a dashcam?

@@MotoFeelz Its a pain! I use it as a secondary camera "on" for the whole ride. It has great battery, so I wasn't worried about leaving it on to capture the whole ride then take sections out in post to create my content. When I sync up the Action3, DJI Mic & X3 in FCP there's a drop out in the X3 every 29 mins. I checked with Insta360 channel on Reddit and apparently its a thing for the X3 (and the X2).

Mine is "always on" also, just in case something happens and yes, there is a small gap between the 29 minute recordings. I don't think it's quite 30 seconds, but more like 12-15 seconds. For continuity, this would be a problem for sure. But conversely, I get at least 3 - 29 minute recordings per battery running at 4K 60FPS. Love this camera!

@@bhouse92101 I think we may have something here. I run 5.7K/60 which might explain the larger drop out. @MotoFeelz uses 30FPS (or 24, help me out here Rob) which may explain why he’s never noticed this ?

that's exactly what I thought would happen if I mount the camera using selfie stick. and that's the only reason I don't buy this because it will get scratched anyway even if I don't drag it to a solid ground. I'm waiting for the next iteration where the lens is removable.

Except no one has figured out how to eliminate wind noise without a separate camera stuck to the rear bumper or separate audio recorder. Sticky foam doesn't work. Reduction option in app muffles EVERYTHING.

You will get massive fogging with the lens guards. I found this out the hard way and had a lot of footage ruined by the fogging. It will fog right in the middle of the lens guard, but not on the outskirts. I would recommend against the lens guards.

My 360 camera was stolen tis summer. It had lens protectors on it cause I'm clumsy but they produced a glare sometimes and fogged up in the rain. They fill up with water if you submerge the camera too. So I didnt get them for my replacement camera. In my experience, it'll get stolen before you damage it 😝

Now imagine if they actually thought about the design a bit and had replaceable lenses or nd filter that could be used to protect the lens. If the image quality looks the same why not use lens guards?! You were big on ND filters on GoPro cameras, what about the x3?!

If you were sponsored by GoPro rather than Insta X3, I wonder if you would have preferred the GoPro. Also if you have lens protectors for the Insta and using them doesn't degrade the quality of the footage then why not use them, or do you not use them simply because you are sponsored by Insta and you know if you destroy one, you'll simply be sent another free camera? This is a serious question.👍

I’ve had far too many issues in the past with GoPro for me to trust their gear. This was the first time I’ve ever used lens protectors and I haven’t taken them off since this test, although yes of course Insta360 send me out a new one if I destroy it.

@@MotoFeelz Touch wood, so far I must have been lucky then with my GoPro's, as they've never let me down yet. I tend to power them through an external battery pack rather than the OEM battery. I previously used the Drift 4k and that was diabolical, constantly freezing, corrupting footage, etc, etc.

Don't be a lier. Dji 360 camera makes 5.3K for whole 360 video. Reframing video will be 1080 only, regardless of your program output resolution settings.😏

I buy one and i can say after two weeks of use - its a piece of shit. Just send mine back. To see how bad it is my action cam from 2015 (rolei 420) filming 1440p have more quality than X3 5.3k.
